Oh, I like both of these names very much! Congrats on your girls, how much longer do you have until the expected arrival?

I am 34 weeks. Was told they would not stop labor at this point. So I guess time will tell.

How are they pronounced, I guess I'm a bit confused on that. :umm: I am assuming that Alyx is "Alex"?

    Amy,
Anya is pronounced (On yah) and yes Alyx is pronounced Alex. I guess I am confused as to how you may have thought it was announced?! Just curious I don't want people to be calling her something strange! :D

I was also confused, especially by Alyx.
Anya I didn't know if it was with a ñ (nasalized n) sound or a n sound and I assumed the first part was Ah on On.
With Alyx, I was like Ally-X???? Oh it must be Alex. If you like Alex, why not just name her Alex?

    Meximeli,
First let me say that I posted my names and asked people what they thought so I am not the least bit offended if you don't like my names. However, I do want to clarify a few things. I guess I should have done a better job of writing out the pronunciation of Anya...it is pronounced (Awn ya) and as for the spelling of Alyx....to answer your question.....we are naming her Alex but spelling it Alyx. The letter y in the english language can be used to make a short i sound as in the words gym, gypsy and cyst. We think replacing the e with a y makes it look more feminine. As you stated in someone elses post the important part is that you love the names and we do. So Anya Noelle and Alyx Elise it will be.
Thanks again for your opinion and I hope I clarified any confusion.

Very cute names! I love Anya. That was one of the names on my list, although I pronounce it Ah- nya (does that make sense?). Either way, it is a beautiful name!

I didn't have a problem understanding your spelling of Alyx. My DD's name is Carys (pronounced Caris). I have to say that you will be surprised how man people don't get it. I go through that all the time with her name. People call her Cary, Ca-reece, Carries. Oh, well! I LOVE her name and don't have any regrets!

I'm glad you have your names ready to go. It won't be l;ong before you get to put a face on those names. Congratulations!

Love both these names. Good choice!
How you pronounce them is how I assumed.
Totally agree y makes girls names more feminine looking....hence our daughter is Jordyn. I can't imagine her being Jordan. The whole name is changed by that 'a'!

I think they are very pretty names. I love Alyx for a girl (I may have named my girl Alexandra and called her Alex if I had a girl).

I personally think they will have many people pronouncing and spelling their names wrong. Within the first 20 minutes of my son Seamus being born, I cant tell you how many nurses came in saying "see-mus"
