So I finally decided to call about getting the girls evaluated by EI for gross motor delays. I know I've posted numerous times over the past couple of months about them not crawling. They'll be one next weekend and they still aren't moving, so I thought it was probably time. They'll evaluate Bella as well, even though I know the reason she's behind is because of her clubbed feet and dislocated hips. Hopefully they'll have some good tips/ideas/exercises that I can do with them to help them get moving!

Good luck. I'm sure it will be wonderful for them! I am considering having mine evaluated as well. They were preemies and I just feel like a professional would know the right ways to encourage them to get moving.

Let us know how you make out!

I am surprised they didn't have Bella having therapy from the beginning. Mine have PT for bad sucking...both of them. She is the best. She comes every week and also checks out their regular development, too. Since they were preemies, our state requires them to be checked. It is a great program. Good luck!

I was surprised too that Bella wasn't given PT after she had her hip surgery. I asked about it, and her orthopedic surgeon said they don't do PT with babies with dislocated hips because they're worried about popping the hips back out of the sockets. He actually told us to not force her to move her legs/hips at all because of that issue. She had the surgery back in August, and has been out of the cast since October, and she's moving pretty well now. But she won't crawl!

Good for you. I'm sure it was hard making the call, but it can really help your girls if they qualify. We have a PT that comes 2x month since mine were so early. It is very helpful and I feel like they are on track and not too far behind where an average 12 month old would be. It is nice because I can get ideas from her about how to help them do something or what should they be doing next. Are your girls getting on their hands and knees at all? Mine did that for about 2 months before they started crawling, that was one of the things she said to do with them.

I hope you get some answers and it would be nice to have some help. I think it's great to have the extra help. It is amazing though everything they look at to see if babies do. I am a bit overwhelmed. Let us know.

Good luck with the eval. I hope they qualify. Our PT has given us lots of good advice and the regular visits really help keep on top of their development.

Good Luck! My girls have been getting therapy for a couple of weeks. They too are not mobile. It is really helping. I am sure you will see a difference in just a couple of visits!
