We had our girls!

[SIZE=12pt]I am proud to announce that Ashlyn Grace and Ansley Faith were born on April 24, 2007 at 7:36 and 7:37 am. Ashlyn weighed 5 lbs. 2 oz. and Ansley weighed 5 lbs. 4 oz. Both girls were 18 inches long.

Here's their birth story... I was admitted to the hospital on Saturday (4/21) for the fourth time because of pre-term labor issues. There, we found out that I was dilated 1 cm and 50% effaced. The dr.'s weren't too worried but decided to keep me in the hospital for observation. On Monday night, the dr.'s and I had a conversation about going home on Tuesday morning and continuing to wait since nothing was happening. However, at around 2:00 am I was having contractions that were more painful than most of the others I had experienced but they weren't worse than the night before. The dr.'s continued to monitor the progress. At around 4:00 am, when the dr.'s checked me, I was still only 1 cm dilated but 90% effaced. At this point, I was in some SERIOUS pain!!! Long story short--at about 6:00 am, when the dr. checked again, I was 4 cm dilated. The hospital dr. called my OB and was swept off to pre-op where I got the most wonderful thing--an epidural!!!! The rest is history!

Ashlyn and Ansley are doing wonderfully. Because they were born before 34 weeks (they were 33 wks and 3 days), they were automatically sent to NICU. They were upgraded to the highest level of NICU before the first day was over. All the doctors and nurses kept saying how big they were for 33 weekers! They are still in NICU today but expected to come home some time later this week.

Congratulations, what great weights for 33 weeks and 3 days. Mine were born at 33 weeks and were 4lbs 5.5oz and 4lbs 14 oz. Hopefully they will come home soon to be with you.
