We got two heartbeats today...

    Welp! We saw two heartbeats today. Not sure what they were, but the dr seemed pleased. Both were measuring 6w4d (I'm 6w2d LMP). I have another appt on Sept 4 at 8w4d. Dr said the chances of a vanishing twin at that point goes down a lot. Is this true?

    My doctor told me the same thing, and it's their job to say that "just in case" as there is the chance of that happening. Try not to focus on that and focus on happy thoughts and hoping everything goes well. There is no need to dwell on what we can not control. :hug99:

    Congrats! Very true that vanishing twin or chances of any type of miscarriage is greatly reduced after seeing a heartbeat.

    YAY S!!!! :woohoo: I can't believe it and I can't believe I can't talk to you till tomorrow!! I can't wait to hear all about it.

    I assumed they would tell you that it was still early etc. and not to get too worked up etc. because the vanishing twin thing. We'll just hope that there is a healthy baby/ies in there!

    Time for you to have This ticker and siggy info!! We don't get as wacky as your other board :winking0009: with the big time pics and stuff!!!

    April 13!!!!!!!! I really want to try and make it to April, but I'm not sure how likely that is. It would be just past 38 weeks...

    Congratulations on two heartbeats. Don't stress about the vanishing twin, nothing you can do to stop it. We found out it was twins at 6.5 weeks and our dr gave us the same lecture, but at 8.5 weeks they were still there. From what I understand the chances go down once you have seen a heartbeat.

    Congratulations!!!! I know the chance of vanishing twin/miscarriage goes down significantly once you see the heartbeat. My nurse that I saw made a point of telling me that if I had both at 10 weeks then I had two. I think she felt compelled to say that but I have seen that at 10 weeks things tend to be more "set in stone". Knowing all of that - put it to the side and be excited, think positive, and congratulate yourself on having two beautiful babies growing!! I truly believe that positive thinking especially in those early months really helped me and the babies. :)

    Ditto what Trish said. Congrats! Take it easy but you can't do anything to stop a vanishing twin. That is so exciting!!! Keep us updated! :)
