we did it! three car seats in a "regular" car

After much experimenting, I just wanted to share how we got three car seats (one for my almost three-year-old and two for the expected twins) across the back of our Saab hatchback: One Radian 65 facing forward in the middle for my toddler, and one Maxi-Cosi Mico, rear-facing, on either side. Since the two front (adult) seats had to be pushed forward way too far for my husband to be able to drive, we took the bases off the Maxi-Cosis (handy only if you're planning on taking the car seats in and out of the car... the Maxi-Cosi style (Cabrio?) that we years ago purchased from Europe -- where safety standards are more stringent -- didn't have a base at all), which created enough space for the front seats to be pushed back reasonably. So we'll be as happy as sardines in a tin, but at least we didn't have to buy a new car for the moment. :)

Best of luck to everyone else on this quest, and I hope our findings may help someone!

    Wow, Glad it fit :)
we would be using 3 carseats on the second rows one SafetoGo boostercarseat in the middle and 2 maxi cosi mico with bases on either side of the booster carseat but we already bought the minivan :)

Yesterday my friend came to look at new car and after checking it she just said. hmm I think you can go ahead with other children as well :) you have 3 more sits for them :) ( I was ready to kill her :) )

Good for you, we did it too for about 6 months, then I got tired of hitting my head on the top of the car and wrecking my back dragging kids across seats. It can work, it just doesn't make your body feel too good!! Not everyone can purchase a vehicle after twins, so sometimes, you just have to make do.
