Well the boys turned one this past Monday so I can now officially join this forum! Hello to everybody!

Now that they are one I do have a few questions regarding our current schedule - specifically regarding their bottles, food, etc. Could you please take a look at what we are doing now and help me with any suggestions? We have our one year appointment next month with our Ped and I'm sure she will give us some input but thought I'd check to see what others are doing here.

6:30-7:00 Wake and 8 oz bottle
    8:00-8:30 Breakfast - Oatmeal w/bananas usually
    9:00-9:30 Nap for about 1 1/2 hours
    11:30 7-8 oz bottle
12:30 Lunch - pears/peaches, puffs, macaroni and cheese, maybe some stage 2 or 3 baby food
    1:30 - 2:00 Nap for about 1 - 1/2 hours
    4:00 7-8 oz bottle
6:00 - Dinner - fruit, puffs, Gerber pasta pick ups, vegetables they can pick up with their hands
    7:00 - 7:30 Bath, 8 oz bottle, bed

    Here are my questions:
    1) I'm still giving 4 bottles of formula. When do you cut back on the number of bottles? And when do you start milk?

    2) I feel stuck with what to feed them. I'm still nervous about them choking so I feel limited on my selections. Right now my list includes the little packs from Doles of diced peaches and pears, vegetable soup (I pick out the peas, carrots and potatos for them to eat), Puffs, small crackers, Yo Baby yogurt, cottage cheese, bananas and just recently macaroni and cheese. What else could I try?

Thanks for your reading and any advice! I look forward to being a part of this forum!

Welcome to 1-4. By 12 months, we were on 3 bottles a day. I dropped the mid morning bottle and replaced it with a snack and formula in a sippy until we did the transition to milk.

We did whole milk after the 12 month WBV since Derek had a milk protein allergy and I wanted to make sure we got the green light to try it. I would talk to your Ped at your next visit about it.

For food I was being very adventurous with them at that age. As long as it was not a choking hazard or dairy, I offered them lots of stuff.

    Green beans
    lima beans
    peas
    lentil beans
    ditalini pasta
Gerber graduates carrots (nice and soft)
    fresh fruit
    ground beef
    rotissirie chicken

:sign0016: I give Cody his milk when he is about done eating. I have been giving him anything & everything when it comes to food. His favs are:

    Bread with cream cheese
    Mac & cheese
    Pasta
    Meatballs
    Soup
    Peas
    Green Beans
    Chicken
    Hot Dogs
    Pizza

He will try almost anything & now is the time to introduce it. My older 2 don't eat anything.

    :sign0016: to 1-4!!

I can't help you with the bottle question since we were done with them at 11 months.

I think the other ladies have given some great suggestions for foods to try. At a year, I started offering them more and more right from my plate. As long it was soft, well cooked and easy to chew. Have fun with it!

    Your schedule looks great!

At one year, we were on 3 bottles of formula and didn't make the switch to milk until after their ped's appointment. We then replaced a bottle of formula (usually given about 30 minutes before meals) with a sippy of milk with meals. Did it one meal at a time.

As far as food, unless, you have specific concerns, you can start adding some more "finger foods."

A few easy things (in addition to what you already do) would be:
Cut up toast, pancakes, waffles are easy to fix and cut up.
Peas, corn, cooked carrots/sweet potatoes, etc are good choices too.
    Grilled cheese
Meatballs and popcorn chicken (cut up)
    grated cheese
cereal/crackers (cheerios, goldfish, those mini ritz are good, etc)
    pastas
    blueberries, grapes (halved), diced apples
