It has taken me 10 months to get these babies to the point where they are drinking well from their bottles, not refusing bottles, etc, because of the horrible reflux that they have battled. Counting oz and worrying if they have had enough has been a way of life with these two from the beginning! And now it's time to start dropping them! AHHHHHH!

I know they will be fine, and just replace the bottle with food, but I am still nervous about it. Jake is enthusiastically drinking from a sippy these days, and Emma is less impresssed by it! But I have a feeling she will find it more enticing when she is offered less bottles!

Tell me it will be OK! By the way, this mommy thing is still hard even with #4 and #5!

Becky, good luck! :hug99: I hope I have luck with that too next month. My guys don't like sippies like Emma so I am worried about it too. Let me know how it goes.

    Oh and I agree, #2 and #3 aren't any easier either ;)

    Becky,
GL with this. I get so stressed when things change too. I am sure that Emma will pick up w/ it. My girls aren't the best w/ sippies either.

I am so jealous! I asked our pedi about going down to 3 bottles a day and she said we needed to stay at 4.

Don't be nervous - your day is going to seem so much freer without that bottle!

:hug99: Good luck Becky. I'm sure your little ones will do fine. :) Just think your life is going to get a little easier. ;)

We should be doing this soon too. Which one are you dropping - I can't decide.

I hear ya on the oz, but I don't have to tell you that! ;) They will be fine. I feel exactly like you said, all this time getting them to drink, drink, drink and now I am taking it away...well, making it less anyways! They will do great with less bottles. Good luck and let us know how it goes...or else! :aggressive:

    Their 4 bottle schedule was....7, 11, 3, 630

The new 3 bottle schedule is...7, 1, 630, with sippies in between.

It went so good! They didn't seem to miss the bottle! They ate SO much at their meals, still had 3-8oz bottles, and some milk in their sippies! Usually when I stress about something, it turns out fine....it's when I am not worried that I am in big trouble!

Thanks so much for the support girls!!

AWESOME! I am the same way...worry and it's fine, don't worry and your in big trouble. Great news that it went well. Maybe Emma (just LOVE that name!) will realize it's sippy or else! Yay!

Sounds like they are doing great! I also agree that with my #4 and #5, I still worry just like I did with the very first and second! Some things never change!

Interesting. I cut my 3pm bottle, but only shifted that 11ish bottle back about 30 mins - maybe I should push it a bit more. I took the lunch *bottle* away yesterday and did the formula in a sippy and DS was FURIOUS! This whole thing seems more stressful on us than the babies, doesn't it? I am happy to be washing few bottles, though. :a_smil09:

Same here. I pushed the 11 back to 12 and do lunch at 1:30. Today will be the 3rd day. I love two less bottles to prepare and have sitting on my counter!!!

Becky, I am glad it went well! So along with their 3 bottles, the sippies had milk in them. Is there a reason you did milk vs. water? Do your babies need more milk but you wanted to still cut a bottle and put it in their sippies?

The biggest reason I put milk in is that when I completely dropped bottles at one year with my other kids, I really had a hard time getting them to drink their milk from a sippy. So I am trying to avoid the problem with the twins.

I am just doing it the opposite of you two. I do lunch first, at around 11, and then they have their bottle right before their nap.

    Becky, one more question...

I have not gone to their 9 month app yet so I am sure my ped will tell me . Do you think I should give lunch before their 2nd bottle like you do?

Now that I do 3 bottles, they are drinking about 21 oz. They eat a lot of food at each meal and they are chunky little guys (if that matters in my decision!)

The reason I am doing it that way(yes there is a method to my madness...at times!), is to start the transition of getting them used to "eating" their meals, instead of drinking them, if that makes sense! In the earlier months, the formula is the most important part of their diet, so I would always give them bottles first, then solids, but now, they need to be getting more nutrition from their food, so that is basically why I changed that up. I thought my 2 ate quite a bit at a meal before I made this switch yesterday....but wow! They can put away some groceries when they have their meal before the bottle!

Becky, glad it went so well. I am really worried about my guys' sippy issues. Got any advice on how to get them more interested in them?
