Just a quick question which is probably nothing :) The last couple days I've noticed an increase in vaginal discharge and it seems more watery. I don't think it is my "waters" because it doesn't seem to be like a leak but yesterday when I was reorganizing the nursery for the 20th time :) it felt kind of "gushy". I went to the bathroom to check and there was no color to it. Just thin, watery discharge. It didn't smell like urine so I don't think it was that. I've tried to google it and it seems like there is an increase in discharge in the 3rd trimester but it didn't say anything about watery. Just making sure I'm normal. :) I have a DR appointment on Friday so I'll bring it up then but just wanted to see if others have experienced this, if I should be concerned. It's not all the time so I really don't think I have a leak. Anyway thanks in advance :)

I would say that you should give your OB a quick call just to let them know, they may want you to come in before Friday & always better to err on the side of caution - that is what they are there for :)
I am sure it is just normal discharge, but better the Dr's office tell you than guessing :good:

It's probably the normal discharge. Amniotic fluid will pool if you are laying down for awhile, so I would go and lie down for 20 minutes, and then get up, and if you feel a sudden gush, I would call your doctor for sure. Of course, if you are unsure at all, you should always call, that is what they are there for!

I had the same type of thing last week... now this week nothing. DR wasn't concerned. I would call just in case though, and let them know whats up :) GOOD LUCK

I had the same thing last week and called and actually went in to be checked. I would always call if you had any questions!

And try the laying down for 20 min like someone else suggested. I read this in several books as a "test" to see if it is your water or not.

Good luck and hang in there!

I've had this happen several times, since week 9... Once I stood up and watery discharge soaked my whole pad (I've been wearing a regular pad since early due to discharge, etc.)

However, for me when I have sudden increases more than 'usual' (been having a lot of discharge throughout, but a lot more...) it wasn't normal- it turns out I had bacterial infections (bacertial vaginosis). I had no other symptoms except the increase in discharge.

I'm not sure the lying down thing will help either it might scare you unnecessarily- I'd call anyway just to be safe... for me if I'd been sleeping, lying down, sitting up, the way I'm shaped inside traps ALL fluid, so I'd get a gush whenever I stood up... kinda scary... but then again, I might just be built weird...

It is always begtter to be safe to get checked out just in case, though.... I'd call your Dr. and ask about it. If your symptoms sound alarming they will have you come in. I'd ask about amniotic fluid, and even if your doctor says you don't need to come in earlier, when you have your appointment on Friday I'd ask to be checked to make sure you don't have an infection.

Thanks so much everyone!! Of course today there's hardly anything...go figure. SO I feel kind of silly calling the Doc. No major contractions or anything and the babies are moving around a lot so I feel like all is well. I'll keep an eye on it and if it picks up I'll call right away. I'll definitely mention it on Friday though if not before.

I had the same type of thing and it was an infection. I'd call too.
