I'd like to get some water shoes for my 16 month old boys...just for going to the pool and walking around the yard when they play with their water table. Have you found any you like and where did you get them? I can't seem to find any for their age range.

    Thanks!

Children's Place. They have a sandal version and a "full foot" version and seem to be resonably priced! If you can't find them in store they're usually available online.

Target usually has them, but my favorites are from Babies R Us because they have a velcro closure, making them adjustable and easier to get on their feet.

Water shoes are a must for us, previously I used to get the cheapies at WalMart but this year I got the Lands End ones, they are sooo much easier to put on. Haven't used them much yet, still kind of cold here but hopefully they will be as comfortable as they look! (I got a pair for me too!!)

We used some from the Children's Place last year, and I have one pair that will fit one of them this year. There are Speedo brand on sale this week at Target, so I'm going to pick up at least one pair of those too.

We loved our Land's End ones we got one year as a gift.

Last year, I purchased some velcro sandals from Stride Rite, similar to these for both Ben and Hannah. I loved them because they could put them on and off by themselves. We just left them in the backyard and they wore them all summer for water play.

Crocs, Crocs, Crocs. Did I mention Crocs?

My boys wore nothing BUT Crocs all summer. They are easy on/easy off, without falling off, they don't stink and can be cleaned quickly with the hose or sink and dry quickly. You can wear them all day long, in and out of the water, shorts or pants. Did I mention I love, love, LOVE them?

eta: my boys feet were VERY small last summer (size 2), so I had to get some knock-offs from BRU, but if you are in a size 4/5, Crocs makes them that small, though you're likely to have to order online as I've rarely seen stores stocking sizes smaller than 7.

Ditto on that one! We had some cheap versions and they were great. If the kids played in the mud, we just rinsed them out. Walmart has tons of varities for $5, Target has some for a few bucks more. Last year we bought some at Hyvee (grocery chain) for $4, but don't know if they still have them.

    Walmart has smaller sizes.

Please be careful with the Crocs, depending on what kind you get. The clog/beach ones are great in general but not soo great in water like pools/beaches. We were at a water park last summer and some children were having great difficulty because they get soo slippery when they are wet. I have trouble walking in mine when they get wet, I would be very nervous buying them with the intention of using them as water shoes. We all have Crocs and they are very comfortable and great for almost anything but not for water shoes, in my opinion they are too dangerous for the pool although they might be ok for the water table since you don't completely immerse your feet.

I was just reading thru and was going to put the same thing. Crocs are really slippery around a pool or wet tile type area. So not for water shoes, but handy for summer to get on and off

Excellent point! I was looking at Crocs last weekend and didn't even think about that. I'll bet the boys would slip on our patio, especially since they've started running (and falling)! Thanks!

"Crocs" are great and my boys LOVE them but agree with traction around a slick pool. My son just slipped today at swim class.

"Teva" makes a nice water sandal. Here's a link to see them http://www.teva.com/ProductDetails.aspx?g=...model=Hurricane
I have found them on sale at various places in the mall and Stride Ride carries them sometimes. My DH has been wearing Teva's for years.

"Keen" is a great water/hybid shoe but $$$. But never considered them at that age because their feet grow so fast. Here's a link anyway http://www.keenfootwear.com/product_detail.aspx?sku=8232

There are many "knock-off" versions of these types of sandals any place that sells kido shoes. I have had luck with a variety of these types of velcro sandals.

We have gotten ours at Target in the past. But I think I am going for the Stride Rite ones this year.
