Seems like I just assume that I will be induced and will not have to worry about my water breaking. BUT I was looking for your stories on if your water broke where were you and how far along you were.

Mods.. if this would be better in the first year forum please let me know!
    Thanks...

My water was broken for me at the hospital. I was already in labor for a while. I was 4 cm when my dr. came in to break it, I think it was around 8 am. I was dilated to 10 by 3:00p.m.

I always worried that my water would break at the grocery store or somewhere like that! but my most dramatic story was w/ ds #2
I had been having contractions all night I went to the OB as soon as they opened and as soon as I layed back on the table to be examined
WOOSH!! it was like Niagra falls - all over everywhere!! I had to
stuff a towel between my legs and off to the hospital we went!!
with my twins I felt SO much pressure I just knew it would break
at any time but nope it held on until my scheduled c-section!!

I had a scheduled c-section, but my water broke a week before it (at 36 weeks). It broke in the middle of the night (2:30). At first I wasn't sure. My husband told me to sit on the toilet, but I told him I couldn't tell if it was just pee if I was sitting on the toilet. So, I stood over a towel for a couple minutes and it kept trickling. Contractions started about 30 minutes later. We were off the hospital and the girls were born at about 4:45.

with my ds my water broke while in the hospital being induced. They didn't break it, it just did it on it's own. I felt a distinct "pop!" and felt the liquid start to come out and I said, "I think my water just broke". The nurses for some reason didn't believe me and then I shifted positions and it was like a flood! pouring off the table, pooling all over the floor, soaking everything in the room....I felt vindicated!

When I was in the hospital the last time - having the boys - they thought that my water for baby a had already broken - when they went to attach a monitor to his head to get a better read, they couldn't get anything - they tried two different monitors (scaring me in the process) - and finally realized, when they were covered w/water - that my water had not broken until then, and they were attaching the monitors to the sac - which was flush against A's head - [IMG]

I went in to labor on my own both times, but my water didn't break either time. With DS it was broken by my doc when I was 4cm to help "speed things up". With DD doc didn't break it until I was 9cm!

I'm not sure where my water broke!! Its a big mystery. I took a shower before heading to the hospital and we think it must have broke in the shower! Because it was broke when we arrived at the hospital but I never saw it!

    Hello Dena,
With my first three singletons my water never broke on its own. The midwife broke the water on two of my babies and one of them had the water brake as his head crowned. As for my twins I was at 37 weeks to the day when baby A.kicked his foot right thru while trying to move around! I didn’t know that’s why the water broke until we got to the hospital and the nurse was doing a check, and got kicked by a little foot, boy did she jump! [IMG]

I did have a c section with these guys. Baby A. being a (footling) breach and baby B. being head down happened to be the ONLY combination of position at which my doctor would not recommend a vaginal birth, and of course that’s how the twins ended up being. [IMG]

You didn’t say why you think you’ll have to be induced; I hope you are not dealing with any health problems. If you are worried about the water braking, near the last month you can travel with a towel handy. I also kept a bag of the biggest (overnight pads) I could find around with me. Those big pads also come in handy for the after birth bleeding. I found my brand more comfy then the cheep hospital ones.

Best wishes I hope all goes well, [IMG]

My water broke in the hospital. I was bent over for about twenty mintues trying to get my epi and when I went to lay back down I felt a pop. I told the nurse that I think my water just broke and she checked me and told me that it did break.

I had always heard so many horror stories about people's water breaking at Target or the grocery store so when I was pregnant with DD #1 I worried like crazy about it. Mine never broke on it's own. I was 4 cm when I got to the hospital with her and they broke it for me. She was born 3 hours later. With the twins I went into labor early and actually got to 10cm without my water breaking. Good Luck with your pregnancy!!

My water only broke on its own with my first ds. I was 35 weeks and we were having sex and it broke in the middle of that!! I had never heard of that happening and when I called my dr to tell them that I thought my water broke and had to explain what happened and that I thought it was my water and she kinda chuckled and said it didn't sound like it. I was sure it was my water (it was a 1ftx1ft circle) so I got up took a shower. She told me to go back to bed and I would know throughout the night if it was my water. I got in bed and as soon as I laid back in bed a HUGE gush of water came out. So off to the hospital I went. I thought I was being good by putting a big maxi pad in my undies thinking I was protecting myself. Well, with the huge gushes I got walking into the hospital I found that pad floating somewhere down my pants!

Anyway...someone told me to walk around with an empty bottle of water towards the end of the pg and if my water broke in public to just pretend I spilled that! I have never made it past 36 weeks with any of my pgs so I never got to that point!

It didn't break with the twins... I had a c/s at 37 weeks... With my older dd, I was sitting on the couch... I had a thought that I should go get a towel just in case my water would break... I was 40weeks plus a few days, no sooner had I come back with the towel, laid down and pop my water broke! I'm not kidding! I was having some ctxs, but I had been having them for days and wasn't sure if I was really in labor or not..

I went pee at 1am (36weeks 0days) and heard a "pop" but didn't have a clue what it was or if I actually even heard a pop or not. I got back in bed, but brought a towel in to lay on (woman's intuition maybe??). At 2am, I must have shifted, because a HUGE gush of water came out. We called the doc and headed to the hospital. I felt so much relief from that bag breaking! I was more happy that I could walk without pelvic pain that I was scared we were about to have twins!!!!

Mine broke when I sat up in bed in the middle of the night. I was 35 1/2 weeks, it was 6 days before my c-section was scheduled. I had not felt any contractions. The other sack broke about 90 minutes later when they were weighing me in at the clinic. You should really ask your mother this question, because interestingly enough, that's exactly what happened to my mom in both her (singleton) pregnancies, she sat up at night and it broke.
