Can your water break without loosing your plug or anything first? I was standing next to my bed and didn't feel any popping or anything, but felt it running down my leg and stepped around with my feet and felt some wettness on the floor (enough for me to get a hand towel to dry the floor). It is completely clear like water, I am not feeling anything at this point...just wondering if it is my water or if it might just be an absorbent amount of discharge? Shouldn't I be "feeling" something else at this point like contractions or something? Should I call my doctor? UGH!!

I can't give you an advise from my experience since this is my first pregnancy, but I would call the doctor if I were you. Good luck with everything, I hope the delivery goes as smooth as it can be and your girls will be healthy! Take care,

I would call your OB as Monica suggested. With my oldest DD my water broke at 41 weeks and I don't remember losing the muscus plug beforehand.

Call your Dr - they can check you in the office to see if you water has broken or leaking by running a strip of paper and seeing if it changes color. My Dr said to help figure out if you water broke is to walk for say 1/2 hour and put a pad in your underwear and if it is soaked then you probably broke your water or if you feel a continuous leak while standing or walking then you might have a small tear. If you just had a quick surge of fluid then it could just be urine (this always happened to me) - your insides are all cramped and sometimes you have no control [IMG] !! Either way check with your Dr - better safe than sorry!

    Call your Dr now.

They may have you come in to be observed. Do not change your underwear either. That happened to me and they wanted to "see" the evidence :bad:

Can she just bring in the underwear in a plastic bag marked exhibit a? I would SO not want to drive to the doctor's office in wet panties!

And what if one's water breaks when they are not wearing ANY? I mean, I've spent 60% of this pregnancy without! LOL I'd be screwed! I'm wearing a sun dress and none right now. Granted I'm hanging out in bed, but still? Oi! All these birth expectations doctors have of us ladies!

I hope everything is fine though! I'd definitely call the office - at least it's monday!!!

Thanks ladies. I called and they want me to come in...so I am getting dressed and have put on a pad to "collect" anything else that comes. Doesn't seem to be leaking any more, so I am not getting TOO excited yet, but I will let you know (or you will know if I don't reply tonight!! haha). I'll be back on as soon as I can!

Guess it was nothing, but she said better be safe than sorry. So, I still have my scheduled C Section for Next Tuesday!! YAY!. She said if anything like this happens again, to come on back in. Thanks for your help ladies!! :)

Glad all is ok! ALthough you are getting pretty far along that it wouldn't be a tragedy if your water DID break!!LOL! Just an FYI...yes your water can break without losing your mucous plug. Mine did at 28 weeks with my singleton with no warning. Had her 3 days later...
