My babies a few weeks ago were getting better at night, they were sleeping regularly 7-9hr stretches, but this last week they have gone back to 4-6hr stretches. It's like a cruel joke, to let me get 8hrs of sleep and now go back to having to get up every 4hrs. Did your babies do this - is this normal? They are not teething yet as I have been watching for signs of this.

Argh - it's hard not knowing when I will get a full night of sleep again.

I feel your pain. My girls did the same to me at about the same time. One of my daughters gets up now at 1am/2am most nights. The first time she did it I gave her a bottle assuming she was hungry. Then I just tried rocking her back to sleep which works most of the time. Now it is a little hit and miss. Sometimes they sttn and others one of them will usually wake up. Here I was so excited they were sttn consistently a few weeks ago I assumed they would continue to do so. My friends tell me that a baby's sleeping habits will continue to change as they grow, start teething and hit other milestones. I am interested to read what other moms reply.

mine do this too!!! I KNOW they can sleep 9-10 hours because they have, but they alternate between sttn & waking up every 4 hours. It's VERY frustrating. I've been feeding them when they wake up, but they've mostly been only taking half of the bottle. I'm going to ask my pediatrician at their next appointment if I can just let them fuss when they wake up at night, or if they're waking up for the extra calories.

Since it is kinda new, they may be having their 4 month growth spurt, hang in there for a few days and see if they settle again :hug99:

I was also thinking it's probably a growth spurt. I'm sure your STTN for real are coming real soon! :hug99:

My girls did this as well. I had one who slept through the night a few times then around 3mo was up every 2-3hrs again! And this went on until recently!!! They are finally now just getting up 0-2x a night!

Hopefully it is a growth spurt and not a new trend!!

:hug99: Mine didn't STTN until 8 months so I have no advice, but I do know that its SO hard when they STTN and then stop. Gosh I have no idea how I lived on such little sleep in the early days. Hopefully its a growth spurt and they'll go back to sleeping through again. GL!

Mine were just about sleeping through most nights until just before four months. Since then, they've been up every 2 hours every night. We keep waiting for their sleep to improve again...

Funny, everyone says "by 4 months the worst is over" but my twins were a walk in the park up until 4 months, and now they are cranky, fussy, worked-up all the time!

Mine only STTN every couple of nights at this point. I actually feel more rested when they get up at 3 to eat. I have to get up to pump anyway and when they don't get up at the same time I don't sleep well for the rest of the night because I keep listening for them and thinking they'll be waking up at any moment.

We're having trouble too - same age. Maybe it's a stage or growth spurt or something. Mine are also not napping.

A good friend of mine (with five year old twin girls) told me that once you think you have them figured out, something else comes up to worry you. She can't be more right!!!
I was so glad that my boys were sleeping better in their cribs for naps and now they have been giving me trouble the past two days! I am out of town and they are in pack n plays, but still....we've tried swings, walking/rocking, etc. and they just don't want to sleep. I feel like I"ve been feeding around the clock in the afternoons/evenings, at least, too.
AHHHH! At least I know I'm not alone at this 4 month stage.

AND their adorable smiling, laughing, and dancing on their little blanky are making it all worthwhile!!!

Yes, they do have alot of growth spurts during the first year. I'm sorry they aren't sleeping through the night for you. It's tough when they give you a taste of the good stuff and then take it away. :hug99: Honestly, I remember this happening to us at four months. I thought my world was shattering because I was so dissappointed that all the STTN had gone away, but it lasted about two weeks and then they started sleeping well again. I hope it's much shorter for you. :hug99:
