I am currently listening to DD screaming her head off because I put my foot down about the "one (and by one I mean 10 million) last hug and kiss" phenomenon before putting her down for her nap. I think I cruelly limited her to about a dozen hugs and kisses. Urghh, my ears are going to bleed. And we'll have an afternoon of overtired toddler fun. Shoot me now. :faint:

I gave in today and just let my girls skip the nap. Maybe they'll just stay happy and peacefully pass out right after dinner?

I  my children for this fact (along with others) that naps and bedtime are:

    me/Mike: "Okay, time for bed/nap"

kids go scurrying off to the bedroom, climb in respective beds, cover up with blanket, and go to sleep.

I should totally videotape it tonight. :D

She did! There's my Christmas miracle. She fell asleep and had one of her usual meganaps. I went and woke her up at 5:30 so that there would be time to give her dinner and a bath before going to bed at 7:30. Despite her recent experiments with the "one last hug" thing, she is totally our sleeping beauty: it's not uncommon for her to get up at 8, nap 2:30-5:30, and happily go to bed at 7:30. DS doesn't log those hours, but he's really pretty good too. (But obviously you guys who just hit the "sleep" button on your remote control and your kids scurry off to bed have just sold your soul to the devil. ;) )

And Holly- glad she finally napped! And you're not alone in that battle! Hope they're good nappers for the weekend!

I'm glad she finally slept for you! I have mega-nappers, too, but dude, they aren't in bed at 7:30! More like 9:30...which is probably why they need such long naps, LOL.

Honestly, I think mine have a Pavlovian response to darkened rooms and loud white noise.

Glad she slept well after the 1 million kisses, Holly!

Bex & Becca... come on, what's your secret?! Mine are good at going to bed most nights, but not THAT good.

I think I hate you.
Mine are great sleepers, once they're asleep. And they're pretty good at putting themselves to sleep. But man, at age 4 we're just starting to emerge from the bedtime h*ll that was ages 2.5 through 3.9999. Holly, get used to that feeling of your foot firmly hitting the floor!

Ya know, I'm not really sure. I like sleep though, so maybe that's part of it.

Don't ask me why I'm up at 4:20 in the morning though. Snowblowers & plows are loud.
