Right now we begin putting the girls to bed about 8:15 (8:00 if it is bath night). Bedtime routine is jammies, BF, bottle and bed. The girls have been really difficult to put to sleep. Mia is fussing about BFing and I think it is because she is over tired. Their last bottle before bedtime is 5, solids at 6:15 and then they take a quick nap. I would like to move their bedtime earlier but I don't know how to do it and keep our 3.5 hour schedule.

They wake at 6:30 am, which I can't change because we BF them and my husband helps out before he goes to work (Maybe once they are weaned and having bottles for b-fast I will let them sleep later). Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I go to a 4 hour schedule and feed them at 6:30, 10:30, 2:30, 6:30 then top them off at their 7:45/8 bedtime?

Any suggestions are very much appreciated!

We are on a 4 hour schedule and it seems to work well. The get a bottle at 7:30am, 11:30, 3:30, and 7:30pm and then immediately to bed. They get solids at about 5:30. I love only having 4 bottle feedings a day. Good luck!

We are also on a 4 hour schedule and have been since about 4.5 months. Mine currently get 3 bottles, we just stopped one in place of lunch since we'll be going to milk next month. I would suggest first off, do not let them nap after their solids at 6:15. If they don't have that nap, they should be ready for bed earlier, maybe around 7:30, maybe earier. What time did you want to try and make their bedtime? That is what I would try.

Thanks. I am not sure what time to put them down but my DH doesn't get home on Mon. & Wed. nights till about 7:45 so I think for now we will shoot for then. I guess my problem is if I move to 4 hour feedings they would eat at 6:30, 10:30, 2:30, 6:30 and then would have 1.75 hours till bed - would I just top them off with a quick BF?

You could top them off. On the weekends we are a little more lax with our schedule. So sometimes they get their 3:45 (during the week) bottle at 4:30 or even 5, and then will still eat dinner at 5:30 and their bedtime bottle at 7:30. Try it and see how they do. I know a lot of people do a "top off" bottle. Mine go to bed at 7:30.

    hi
We are on a 4 hour schedule...we just changed. We were every 3 hours..then for a week or so I made it every 3 1/2 hours and they did fine so I've moved it to 4 hours.
Mine wake up at 6:30 each morning too.
    This is our schedule.

    6:30 BF/oatmeal
    8:30-10 nap
    10:30 BF
    12:30-2:30 nap
    2:30 BF/fruit(level 1)
4:00ish cat nap (only about 30-45 minutes)
    5:30 veggies (level 1)
6:15 start bath and get ready for bed
    6:30 or 6:45 BF
7:00 Bed (sometimes even before that)

They are sooo tired they just want to go to sleep. I have found (and I can't believe it) that if I put them to bed at 6:45 or 8:00 they still wake up at 6:30 am. So...I put them to bed early and they get more sleep that way.
