The twins aren't walking on their own yet, but they are using any piece of furniture light enough to move as a walker. Are baby walker toys any good? Or is it something they'd have fun with for maybe a couple weeks and then not care about?

My girls used walking toys for a few months even after they learned to walk. I like the one you posted about because it's more than that, they can use it after.

Mine still love ANY walking/push toy. Especially the Ride on/push Winne the Pooh musical car. It was such a hit, we had to buy a second one.

Mine LOVED those things. In fact they still use them, even though they've been able to walk just fine for a year and a half! They would also use any available piece of furniture (the little end table was a particular favorite), but it was a lot easier on the house if they used something that had wheels.

The best ones can be used as both a walker and a riding toy later. (Of course, any riding toy will probably get used as a walker -- the important thing is just for it to have a handle and wheels!)

I just ordered a second little tikes push and ride racer for the boys. I bought one for their b-day to try it out, but it's become the most fought over toy in the house. One loves to push it the other loves to ride it (you'd think they'd be happy to do it together... but of course not  ) Anyways- I think as they get older they'll enjoy riding them around more. But so far- they've definitely enjoyed theirs!

Yes! Get one! We have Playskool ones that convert into riding toys, and they still use them. They also still love things they can push, like shopping carts, strollers, lawnmowers, etc. Ainsley cruised for a looong time, and she really loved pushing something along. She would push anything though, laundry baskets, boxes, empty water cooler bottles.

I agree! My boys loved them for a long time after they walked. Kids just love a little cart that they can carry stuff in so that toy looks like fun.

ETA: I forgot to add that you will need two of those if you want to avert World War III. Perhaps get the expensive one, and then another inexpensive one from Fisher Price.

My two hated them (I seem to be in the minority here!) I got the convertible ones so they use it as a ride on.

We have this one, and Nadia used it for years after she was walking -- she hauled her stuff around, used it as a doll bed, sat in it and had friends push her, you name it. And it's still in perfect condition, so I know my twinks will get good use out of it, too.

For unknown reason my twins was never really attractive to those cruiser. They first started learn to walk around the gate. We had a used walker for a short period of time and they truly did their first baby step without anything. Some love it and some hate it, you can buy it and resale it later. Just my 2 cent! <wink>

Yes, get one! We had a musical one from Leap Frog, which they still sneak out when they are in the basement. And they fight over it! Sigh.

There is one a lot like the one you listed in the OP that they have at Ikea - it's much cheaper and can be used to push all sorts of toys around! ;)

We have two and Elizabeth LOVES them. She walks all over the house with them. We have a leapfrog one and the FP one that converts to a ride on. I prefer the FP one. They are the first toys she goes after when I bring her downstairs in the morning :)

We had this one too and I know it helped my boys walk. My nephews PT suggested he get this specific one. They loved pushing each other in it. Here are two pictures- one of them in the wagon and the other is Seamus pushing the ride on toy. The ride on toy is still a huge hit here!

I think walkers are worth it, but if you are worried about the longevity of this type of toy, get one like this. We have 2 of these (strated with one but had to go back and get another one!) and at almost 2 they still like to ride them around the house. Especially when we roll up the carpet and convert the living room into a crash derby!

They have a ton of different character ones, but the disney ones here make a lot of noise, so Daddy took the batteries out to save our sanity!! Just a tip :D

My girls LOVE theirs. We also have a ride on/walker-specifically the little tykes push and ride doll walker, they also make a racer version. They are using it both ways right now.

Jack and Lily loved their radio flyer wagon before they started walking. It also has a little empty wagon area so they used it to push their favorite toys around and I use it to store some of the extra toys,etc.. As far as I understand the radio flyer line is recommended by pediatricians and is very safe. It is VERY well built and has a push back feature so it really does not go flying out from under an overzealous pusher! They also liked to push eachother with one sitting in the wagon part and that was too funny!!!

Just like every toy; however, it's time is limited. Jack and Lily started with it around 8 months or so and both were walking around by 10 months and nobody is very interested in their wagon anymore. It still works for keeping some of their toys though!

The boys have been walking for a little over four months. I credit those walking toys with them walking as soon as they did and even though they walk and run on their own now, they still absolutely love those walking toys. They were worth every cent.

My little boy love his walker toy. It was a Pooh airplane. It played music, talked & had lights on the propeller. I tried to put it away a few weeks ago, but he wouldn't let me. He still pushes it around occasionally. I say it's a good investment!!

It is useful and helpful. Your right it doesn't last very long but I think it is helpful. Get one from a garage sale, neighborhood service or you must have one of those 'usedottawa.com' websites in your area. I love them!

Mine got 2 for their 1st birthday and they are still using them! Just yesterday ds was playing "crash" with his.....which I'm not so sure isn't a good game....

This is the one I prefer; it seemed easier as a push toy for walking. They also have one very similar to the one Catie posted.

Definitely get 2. :) Major fights break out if we can't find one of ours!

they did push around their little chairs like "walking toys' all the time though!

This is the one we got:

    http://www.amazon.com/LITTLE-LT-1617-CARRI...R/dp/B000QE1DC4

We only bought one and they completely ignored it (except to take the parts out of it) until recently. Now it doubles as a push cart and a chair (our girls are little so they fit right inside) and sometimes they take turns wheeling each other around in it. So long story short -- we could have lived without it, but they enjoy it now that they're able to walk which sort of defeated the purpose :D
