My girls aren't walking completely yet, but they're getting really close. They take steps all day long, but then fall down. I'm a bit concerned about my Aurielle and the way she is walking. I have a very short (and I mean short) video of her taking a few steps and it looks like her right leg is real stiff while the other is normal. It also looks like it's turning inward. Not sure if this is just her sloppy way of learning how to use her legs or if this is something I need to bring up to the doctor. I can't stop thinking about it...I'm actually quite concerned.

    Here is the video

Ignore my annoying mommy voice. :)

If you can I would show that video to the doctor, especially since you are very concerned about it. It might be just the way she is learning but it cannot hurt to discuss it with your doctor. It was hard for me to tell because the video went by so fast. Let us know how you make out

I see what you're talking about. I'd ask about it, but I do think there probably are kids who learn to walk that way. It's best if a PT or a doctor can evaluate it so you have a professional opinion.

She was doing the same thing today. It's like she's almost tripping over her leg which makes her fall. I'm going to try to get more video of her tomorrow.

Her legs and stance get evaluated at every doctor appointment. She was a bit bow legged when she was born because she was my breech baby, but she grew out of it. She crawls normally, so I'm not sure if this is her goofy way of learning. She is bit of a goofball. ;)

I see what your saying. Its hard with only a brief video to look at but it seems like a hip thing. Check with your ped definately. Maybe normal but talk to your ped for sure.

I see what you're talking about; I would see if you could get a longer video of it and ask the ped. Nate had a VERY stiff and awkward gait when he first started walking, but he grew out of it. Aurielle might be the same way, but it never hurts to ask! When is their next WBV?

BTW, I had to laugh at the "annoying mommy voice"; whenever I take a video I'm amazed at how silly I sound!

I would definitely see a dr. about it... but I will say that a friend of mine had a funny walking issue w/one of her twin girls and the pedi saw it, and she gave them a referral to an ortho or something... and by the time they got to that appt. it had worked itself out and nothing was wrong! The ortho never saw anything wrong, and when she took her back to the pedi the pedi agreed that it looked fine but he had seen the funny stance to begin with.

hopefully its just something that nothing at all! I'm sure it takes a bit of time to work out all the kinks of learning something new...

Thanks Gals!! Their next wellness appointment is on their 15 month birthday. Actually, today DH noticed that she is walking on it fine. She's bending that leg. She was checked for hip dysplasia at 6 months and she was okay for that. Also, she's checked very thoroughly by the pedi at her doctor appointments because she was breech and her legs bowed. I think I was over reacting --- I'm a worry wart now that I'm a mom, so everything little thing freaks me out. She's still learning, so I'm pretty sure it will work itself out, but if it doesn't in a few weeks then I'll definitely take her in.
