the past week my LO's have been night waking. screaming at 3, 4 or 5 am.
they tried dairy for two days. one LO seems uncomfortable; pumping legs, moaning very lightly. the other LO cut his first tooth. i've been giving him motrin at night before bed.

    any thoughts?

It's hard to say. If you think it might be the dairy then stop giving it to them for a few days and see if things improve. If they still continue to nightwake then its not the yogurt and probably teething. One of our LOs has been nightwaking consistently for the past few weeks and driving us batty!! We just chalk it up to teething and hope that it passes SOON. Usually we can get by with just picking him up and cuddling him for 5 minutes and put him right back in his crib. Not exactly fun when he does this at 11pm, 1:30am, 3:30am, etc...

I agree with the PP. I would stop the dairy for a few days and see if things improve. Or you can try to do dairy earlier in the day and see if that helps.

I would also stop it for a few days & see what happens. It could be teeth, it could possibly even be the Motrin which will occasionally cause stomach upset. If you take the dairy out of the picture & after a week or so it's continuing, you'll know that wasn't the problem.

It could be either one of those things, or neither. They just go through these periods sometimes of waking up every night for a couple weeks, then all is well. I've adopted the ride it out approach to night wakings. If I can determine a cause (teeth, illness, etc.), I try to fix it, but I usually couldn't. So, I went in and comforted or did CIO as necessary, and we just rode them out. Even my DD who has been a brilliant sleeper, has had her weeks lately. They always get through it in a week or two and go back to great sleeping.

Ours went from STTN for several months to waking in the middle of the night around the 9 month mark. After about 2-3 weeks of the middle of the night crying, and us ruling out anything that could have actually been causing a problem, that's when we first did CIO. Like PPs said, do what you think is best to figure out what the problem is. Hopefully it will just be a phase that will take care of itself quickly. Hugs.
