My guys have really been GREAT with their sleep schedule. We can put them down at 7-8 and they get up at 6-7. We will give them a final bottle right before bedtime with rice cereal in it. They sleep all night. For the past two weeks or so, one or the other (sometimes both) will wake up in the middle of the night and it takes us about an hour to get them back down. I try my best to not pick them up and will soothe them with either a paci or rubbing their hair or back. But sometimes, I have to pick them up and either rock them or, if they are really upset, feed them. I am losing my mind and my sleep!!! I WANT MY SLEEP BACK! My DH has been out of town this week and it has been me getting up every night. Anyone else have this problem??? Any solutions???

Are they teething? I found mine didn't sleep well when they were teething.

I would guess teething or developmental growth spurt. It tends to interrupt their sleep when they are working on learning something new. :hug99:

celia has that problem every 5-6 days or so. usually with teething. she is relatively easy to get back to sleep, but only temporarily. she will usually wake up SCREAMING 1-2 hrs. later. we have tried teething rings, but what has worked best is a small dose of tylenol. she is able to sleep well. i don't even give her a full dose. Not sure if that is what is going on with yours, but that is the issue in our house! luckily, linc doesn't seem too bothered by teething most of the time- phew! (knock on wood!)

It sounds very similar to our situation. Our girls are 9 months and we've been so fortunate that they have slept through the night for so long (usually 8:00pm - 6am). But, a few weeks ago we started having some "wake-ups." We couldn't figure it out and now, a few weeks later, each DD has 2 teeth! So, I'm pretty sure that the teething was causing their restless nights. They seem to be back to "nomal"...until the next round of teeth or cold;)

What about bad dreams, my son had them very early and bad for a few months.

James went through the exact same thing about a month ago. He went from sleeping about 7 until 6 straight to waking up several times. He wasn't hungry, just upset and unsettled. I did feed him a few times but I could tell his heart wasn't in it. I thought he could be teething, but he was only 5 months old so I also thought it was too early. Low and behold - two bottom teeth popped up!

If you're normally in a good groove I bet you'll be back to normal soon - I bet you're in for some new teeth.

I agree with PPs that they may be teething. what I did was give infant motrin at night (ibuprofen) which lasts 8 hr. Give that to them as they are getting their nightly bottle. I chose motirn over tylenol b/c tylenol lasts only 4-6 hr and motrin last 6-8 hr-- motrin relieves the pain all the way through the change in sleep cycles.

If they aren't teething, then you may want to think about moving that nightly bottle up an hour so they aren't' waking up from a bladder problem... ??? ... bad dreams could also be a possibility if they aren't napping well in the daytime.

developmentally if they are about to crawl or pull up to standing that could also disrupt sleep. If it's a developmental issue, then just make sure to give them plenty of practice time pulling up etc outside of nap time. The only place the girls had to pull up was at the crib, so i lowered the rail and let them pull up from the floor. then I'd raise the rail and let them practice getting up/down in the crib. All this during the hour right before naps. Then I also had to make sure they were going to settle down for naps when time came. . .

This is what it was for my two. Either teeth or growing.
Just a question, when they do get up in the middle of the night, do you go in right away or give them a chance to fall back asleep? After the teething/growth spurts, my dd made it a bit of a habit of getting up pretty much because she was doing it for a few weeks or so, and then I let her fuss one night {mainly because I was SO tired! <_< } and she went back to sleep on her own. Good luck and I hope this passes quickly!!
