Waking at 330am?

For 2 weeks now either or both of my LO's will wake up at 330am, thinking its playtime, bouncing their legs in the crib, talking etc. I go in and put soothers back in their mouths, they just smile up and laugh, nobody wants to settle down. I've changed diapers, nursed, rubbed their backs, rubbed their heads etc, nobody wants to go back to sleep, so after nearly 2 hrs of this, I end up putting them into their swings to sleep, which takes them about 15 mins to fall asleep there. Once they are asleep its good, but what is going on with this middle of the night wake up?? Both can roll over, so even when they roll over in their cribs, they think its tummy time and hold their heads up and look around, they don't know how to get in a comfy position to sleep on their tummies yet. Both of them are teething, so could this be the reason why they are waking up? Nobody is fussy at 330am, they just think its playtime.

Once they do fall asleep they sleep for a couple of hours, which means they are getting up between 7-730am. Normally they are up around 6-615am ish. Do I start to get them up at their normal time again to see if this will help them readjust their sleeping habits? They both go down for bed between 7-730pm, we've tried to keep them up longer but they are way too tired at this point and want to sleep.

What do you think?? Any suggestions are appreciated, as I'm losing my mind over their middle of the night wakings, which makes for a very tired mommy.....

I had the same thing 3 nights in a row at 4 am… but luckily they didn’t last night (I’m hoping its over)… it’s hard when they meet you with a smile (at least for me) I just want to play as well… but if I don’t sleep… we don’t have a happy house… Seth thinks its the funniest thing to slam him legs down in the crib (that’s why we just moved them to separate cribs...) he slams and giggles  , slams then giggles  , rinse repeat... GL I hope it’s over soon for you :hug99:

My girls have started getting up in the middle of the night too the last few days- between 1 and 3 am. The only thing is, they don't want to play- they want to eat! I was hoping this wouldn't happen again, I really miss them STTN...

Mine did this for a bit too. If they are happy and playing and not fussing, I would just leave them alone and they would eventually (could be 15 mins could be over an hour) they would go back to sleep. I would re-adjust my schedule in the morning to them since I stay at home with them and wanted to sleep!! GL! :hug99:

Daniel did this at about the same age. Continually waking at around 4am. Wide awake! We just left him. He rarely ever fell back to sleep and usually by around 5 or 5:30 we'd have to get him up. This lasted about a month for us. Now he sleeps til about 5:30 (but he does go to bed at 6pm).

My girls went through this phase! And mine wouldn't put themselves back to sleep either! It turned from happy playing to straight up screaming, wanting attention! I had to just ignore them and let them CIO, and they would eventually fall asleep and stopped doing it after a couple of nights.

    GL!
