Hi. My babies were born at 35 weeks 4 day weighing 4-8 and 4-11. We used to feed them every three hours. If they were asleep we would wake them up. At this point my babies are 10 weeks old, weigh over 9 lbs each and eat every 3 - 3.5 hours during the day and at night every four hours. I think they could go longer at night I just wake them up. What would you do at this point let them sleep or continue to wake them up. The babies are bottle fed and take between 27 - 30 oz a day. The dr also seems to be happy with their weight.

    Thank you.

I'm assuming you want this moved to the FY board correct? Just let me know and I can move it.

I worried about the same thing and at our 2 month appt. was told it was okay to let them sleep, as long as they weren't going more than 4 hours between feedings during the day and 6 at night.

Mine came home from the NICU at 36w5d old. FOr the first 15 days in the NICU, they were on a 3 hour schedule. Right before we took them home, they moved them to a 4 hour schedule and we were waking them up to feed. They told us that around their due date, they would start waking on their own at night when they were hungry. So, we just took their cues from that.

I would say at 10 weeks old, yours should be able to wake on their own at night when they are hungry. I would at least give it a try adn see how it goes.

Mine were born at 34 weeks...by the time they were 11 weeks old (5 weeks adjusted age) they were sleeping from 11 pm - 5 am every single night. We would feed them at 11 and then go to bed adn then get up with them around 5 am...then feed them every 4 hours through the day.

I am 100% sure that I would let them sleep. Sounds like they're thriving.

If they are gaining weigh appropriately then I think it's ok to let them sleep. That's what my pedi went by.

I'd let them sleep. But you should still run it by your pedi just to be sure.

It sounds like they are doing great, I would definately let them sleep at this pooint. I am always scared to start a bad habit.
