Wake them -or- let them sleep?

Do you wake your babies in the morning? Do you wake them from naps (to preserve the next nap or bedtime)?

    OR

Do you let them sleep (and just be thankful they are sleeping)?

Please include the age of your twins. How many naps per day? And are they sleeping through the night? Thx.

I let them sleep, however mine never nap longer than an hour and I wish they would nap longer. Mine also do not sleep through the night either. Their age is in my sig. [IMG]

I don't wake them in the morning. I rarely have to wake them to feed or keep them from sleeping longer! [IMG]Their usual nap is about an hour, hour and a 1/2 if I'm REAL lucky! [IMG]

I've wondered about this too. My boys are quite a bit younger (2 mo), so I don't know if this applies but... I generally let them sleep unless they hit the 2 hour mark. I don't have any evidence that letting them sleep more than that will affect their sleep, but I'm not chancing it!

They take two naps a day (one around 10 and another late afternoon).

They basically sleep through the night (10pm to 5am) with a few exceptions.

I wake them in the morning and from naps if they are still sleeping. Most of the time they are up though. My twins are almost 10 months and take 2 naps a day nd have been sleepiong through the night since 5 months

I am just grateful that they are sleeping. With very few exceptions, they sleep from 10pm to 6am, so I am happy with that. During the day, I usually let them sleep (as does my sil who stays with them while I work) unless there is a reason to wake them. For example, this morning my son was napping, but woke momentarily with obvious gas pains and had a movement. Even though he went right back to sleep, I woke him when I changed his diaper.

At four months, they seem to spend about an hour and a half awake and nearly the same time asleep alternating throughout the day. They are not cranky babies and they sleep well, I think.

I don't have to wake hem in the morning because they are early risers. They take two long naps and one short nap in the jogging stroller a day. Mine are almost 8 months. I wake them from a nap if they have slept longer then 2 1/2 hours which has only happened a handful of times.

I only wake mine on the rare occasion that their morning nap goes longer than an hour, or if we have to be someplace. I occasionally have to wake Sarah in the morning to get to daycare/work on time, though usually they are both awake by 7 (sometimes much earlier) anyway. But in general, I've never had a problem with them sleeping too much. [IMG]

ETA: They are 13 months now, but this has been my policy pretty much since birth. They sleep 12 hours at night, more or less -- occasional wakeups, but none prolonged.

My boys are now 4, but from the time they were born, I would wake them to eat if, at first, 4 hours had elapsed from their last feeding. Once they were 3 months, they started 2 naps a day and slept 12 hours at night. I never had to wake them in the morning, but I would wake them from naps if they didn't wake on their own by 12 and 4. My friends thought I was nuts to wake them, but it did help establish a great routine/schedule. So much so, that they would follow my lead with their babies born after mine.

During the week I do wake them in the morning as we need to be out the door at a certain time to take their older sister to school.

Same goes for naps during the week. I will wake them from their morning nap at 11:30, so that they will go back down at 1. If they are not up then I do have to wake them at 3 to get out the door again to get their older sister from school.

Mine are just about 11 months. They take 2 naps and sleep all night, 7:30-7:30, with the occasional wake up.

Over the weekend, however, we don't wake them in the morning, unless we need to be somewhere at a certain time and generally do not wake them from naps, unless one of them is awake, we will wake the other then to be on the same schedule. We are much more lax about it on the weekend, plus it helps that DH is home to help.

i have always awakened them except in the morning when they wake me. for along time we didnt have an exact WAKE UP TIME. it varied from 6 to 630 to 7 am. it wasn't until we got some room darkening shades that the girls would sleep longer.
I always put them down for naps at the same time, puthem down awake. I always woke them up during the day for feedings or because I didnt want them to sleep too long -- wanted to preserve the next nap and certainly night time sleep.

we fought long and hard for a good nights sleep for all of us and we finally got it at 6 months. they started sleeping 11 hrs at 6 months. around 9 months it went to 10 hrs. now they are sleeping 11-12 hrs at night and have been since 1yr. They are now 20 months (almost).

I am a total baby-waker. DH & MIL HATE this about me...but they aren't the ones who have to deal with it in the middle of the night or how it messes up the rest of the day & our ability to go out (necessary for my sanity).

Waking them up in the morning is RARELY an issue since I have early risers, but I always wake them from naps if they aren't up

    Requested stats:
    we're 9 1/2 months old
    2 naps a day (9:30-11 & 2:30-4)
We are sleeping 8-10 hour stretches, but still feeding once about 4am

i only wake them if i have to. they are 6 months now and don't really go back to sleep if they are woken up. i never wake them to eat but they really never sleep past a feeding...little chubbies!

Safari.. how are things going? do you ever check in on the girls on the TTTS side? i do sometimes, but i still get really upset even reading the posts.
