    Hi ladies,

our little Sophie has started to get her tongue thrust reflex going and so she's gagging a bit more. Lately she's eating a less and if you take her over a threshold of food (fluctuates) she's vomits it all up. It's not projectile, like across the room but it certainly pours. Has anyone had this? I am trying not to worry b/c she's not getting her food in. She's still peeing though, so I assume that is a good thing.

    Advice is really appreciated.

How much food is she taking in roughly? When she vomits, it's mixed with saliva so it looks like it's more than it actually is.

If you are concerned definitely call your ped and/or take her in to be checked! Most ped's will do a weight check without an appt, so you can be sure she's still gaining weight.

It could also be a sign of reflux, in that case a med like zantac or prevacid may help with the puking.

 My oldest son had horrible reflux, but because he was gaining weight, was eating fine and was happy and healthy, it was considered a "laundry issue". He would go through several outfits a day, several burp cloths, I never laid him down without a waterproof pad under him..etc. My twin dd had silent reflux, she was still gaining weight but she was very fussy, didn't sleep good, burped a lot but didn't puke a lot, but when she did it was always chunky like cottage cheese, and very sour smelling. Prevacid worked wonders for her!!

I would give your Ped a call and let them know what is going on. Sounds like she might have a touch of reflux.

We are going in to our ped on thursday for our 2 month vaccinations, so I will mention it then for sure. For some reason our doc doesn't prescribe prevacid very much but seems stuck on ranitidine. It's helped Noah but he's still a spitter. It is so strange Sophie was a champ eater and was very sweet natured and then last week she just changed. She became fussy at the witching hour and SCREAMs not cries. She falls asleep at the bottle and so she doesn't take in as much food. I changed her formula to see if this would help, it hasn't.

Anyways, I hope things improve soon, it is very hard to see little Sophie screaming and vomitting like this.

    THanks,Anna

Zantac (or ranitidine) works great for some kids, but it's very reliant on weight. It worked for about 4 days with my dd, but then stopped working.

If he does use it for Sophie, and you find it isn't working, please call and ask for prevacid. It works much better for some kids.
