As I think about Noah not eating veggies I'm wondering if he should be getting vitamins? Are any of your kiddos taking vitamins? if so when did they start?

My twins need to be on vitamins too! We will be going to the DR for another follow-up since they had their flu shots last week. We think they have some sort of react to it. I'll be asking her today.

OUr pedi mentioned at their one year visit if they aren't eating more veggies by 18 months they will be put on a vitamin. They are currently taking Poly-Vi-Sol for flouride.

I don't give a vitamin, I give JuicePlus. JP is a food supplement, it has the full daily amount of fruits and veggies and some grain. Its been around for years and has the science to back all they're claims. I started giving my girls JP when they were 10 months old and neither one of them have been sick since starting it, not even a simple runny nose. :) I know when I give them the JP, I can rest easy knowing that they are getting all the fruit and veggies they will need for that day, even if they are being picky eaters. Dr Sears has a write up about it with a ton of good information. If you are interested contact blessedby2 she is a TS member that sells it, she also has a ton of info she can send your way.

We do a gummy vitamin every day. They love them! I've been thinking about the Juice Plus vitamins, but not ready to spend the cash right now as I have been shopping a lot for Christmas.

    We use the flintstones variety.....

We do the Gummy bear vitamins. I just started doing 2 a day this week, prior we only did 1 a day.

I give mine the Poly-Vi-Sol with Iron daily. Their eating habits are so so and veggie intake is not very good. We're working on it but in the mean time the ped. suggested vitamins.

Just a word of caution about Flintsone's...the Complete has partially hydrogenated oils (aka - Trans Fat). In case you didn't know this, a product can contain trans fats and still list it as 0 grams, because it is less than 0.5grams, so you've got to look at the ingredients. The other concern I have about Flintstone's are the artificial sweeteners and colors. We aren't really sure how these effect us 100%, and there are some studies showing negative effects so I try to avoid them if possible. I do health lectures and this is one of the things that I talk about. I am doing one tonight at a twins group, as a matter of fact. :) And, in case you couldn't tell I used to work at a vitamin manufacturer which is why I know some of this stuff. ;)

In regards to vitamins, no, my kids don't take any. But we do take Juice Plus, which is a whole food supplement - just fruits and veggies in a capsule, chewable or gummy. My kids love them. I looked into buying them when I was looking for something safe and effective for my kids. And, it doesn't get much safer than this - I have a friend whose daughter ate a whole tub of the veggies - 2 months worth in one sitting and was fine! Didn't need to go to the hospital for stomach pumping or nothing! Like Trish, I love the fact that I know my kids are getting all the nutrients they need, and I'm not fighting them to eat them. JP is great, IMO, because it fills the gap between what we should eat and we actually do eat. Here's my website if you want more info: Juice Plus+.

We're taking a multivitamin with fluoride. They began the fluoride around 6 months and the multivitamin they have been taking ever since I can remember. At the beginning we mixed the multivitamin with their bottled milk and now they take it straight. Just be sure that they don't have anything to eat/drink (including water) for 30 minutes after they've taken their fluoride.

My two don't eat a lot of veggies. We use the gummy-bear vitamins. They've been taking them for about 3 months now and love it. They even ask for the gummy-bears after each meal B) .

Mine are on vitamins. The older ones take a generic multivitamin with iron chewable, and Brandon is on Poly-vi-sol with iron. All my kids are borderline anemic so they have to have the iron supplements.

Same with my Katherine. She was borderline at our 3 year check up. Our pedi said to stick with PolyVitamin Drops with fluoride. Thank goodness they don't mind taking that yucky, brown smelly stuff!

We have to go back in 2 months to have her blood rechecked.

Mine do, but only because we have a well and the fluoride they take also has vitamins. Otherwise, they wouldn't be taking them (per the pedi).
