I was thinking on starting vitamins with my little ones. Just wondered what kind you used, what dosage you gave, and how you offered it (smashed with food, or did they chew it, etc.).

emfamil makes a liquid vitamin that we used to give to our girls called poly visol I think. There is another brand for toddlers that I can't think of now. They are both on the same aisle with the adult vitamins in our walmart.

We use Yummi Bears and our boys love them.

We used the Poly Vi Sol with Iron until they turned two. :good: Tastes and smells HORRIBLE ( I think) but they took it.

We are required to use the Poly Vi Sol with Flouride since it's not in our towns water, but before we realized this our pedi had recommended Flintstones Chewables or something like that.

We just do the generic Flinstones chewables.

Liz, that's what we are using now and my stars that stuff is rancid! My DD takes it like a champ and DS needs some coaxing. I wish there was something better tasting out there for them!

Same here. Now we take a mulit-vitamin with iron prescribed by our pedi.

Looks like their year check up is coming up. You could always get your pedi's take on what vitamins he recommends.

Our pedi told us to start vitamins at their 1 yr check up. She told us to use the Emfamil liquid vitamin Poly Visol without iron. I give them 1ml once a day. I have it on their changing table and they get it first thing in the morning as soon as they wake up. I give it to them straight without any problems. You can put it in liquids but they are always sharing sippies so I would be afraid that one would get more than the other.

BTW: Target has their brand of the poly visol which is about $2 cheaper.

my girls refused the poly vi sol from the first day we tried it. We now give my first flintstones and a gummy immunity booster.

My boys also refused the Poly Vi Sol. I tried it & gagged. And I don't gag. That stuff is NASTY.

We use a Gummi Vitamin. They each get 1 since the dose for 2 & up is 2. Originally I cut the gummybear in half but now they get it whole. Our Ped didn't recommend any vitamins, so I'm doing it on my own. They also get fluoride because our city doesn't have fluoride in the water.
