Our boys will be a year old on Dec. 28. I let them watch 1-2 Baby Einstein's most days, but it seems like they are starting to outgrow some of them a bit. For those of you that use videos with your kids, what are some good options for the 1 year age? We have one Sesame Street video that they think is okay, but it doesn't hold their attention. Are they old enough for Thomas the Train or Bob the Builder, or will that be over their heads at this point??

I would think that Thomas The Train would be over their heads at this age, not to mention that cartoon is boring as all get out  That's just my opinion obviously and millions of kids like it (for reasons I don't understand, LOL). Our boys really enjoy the Baby Genius Nursery Rhymes (with kids singing and playing with characters like Vinko the bear, etc) and HBO Classic Baby (which is all animated but very cool visually to look at and the music is great). But I'm also looking to broaden our DVD collection and plan to get a couple of Baby Einstein dvds about animals.

Sesame Street, Yo Gabba Gabba, Bob the Builder, Baby Einstein would all be good choices! I know many little ones who like Thomas, so that's worth a try.

Yo Gabba Gabba is constant singing so little ones tend to like that. My girls like Sesame Street, but really only the parts with Elmo :) I don't know what the deal is with that furry red monster but he is hypnotizing to children!

Blues Clues is so great. I don't know if you can find it on TV now but you can get DVDs super cheap. It is a great learning show. When they are more like 18 months we loved Kipper and Backyardigans, and still do. It is a very calm, quiet show but so endearing. The girls really love it. And of course probably Barney if you can stand it. Unfortunately Zoe loves it because she loves singnig! Ugh, I cannot stand that show...not looking forward to just an increase of obnoxious and loud kids shows...ugh.

Mine loved anything with animals or music. We did Wonder Pets, Yo Gabba Gabba, Diego, Fresh Beat Band (they dance to it). They also like Caillou.

Thanks, everyone. I will check out some of the things you mentioned....maybe I will borrow some from the library first to see what they like right now.
