I am going to buy a video hand held baby monitor and am not sure which one to get. I am interested in the Mobi cam and the Summer baby quiet sounds. I am kind of leading towards the summer one because it has a 2.5" screen but would like some feedback from those who have one or have experience with one. Good and bad!

    Thanks

I don't have a handheld monitor, but I love my black & white Summer brand video monitor (it has a small TV-style display). Just thought I'd chime in about the brand in general. It works great!

My bf had the Summer video monitor and liked it very much.

We have the Summer one with only one camera and love it as you can see both of them in one glance.

We just positioned the two cribs close enough and put the camera high enough so we can see them both. There are two blind spots but it has worked for us so far.

I would reccommend this to ANYONE (not just a twin parent) having a baby!!!

Best money spent as far as we are concerned!

It has let us stay on the couch or in bed so many nights as not to have to get up and check them every time they made a noise.

Some times that's all I would look at and just watch them (not so much anymore as they are getting older).

I am a 'worry wart' so it just gave that reassurance that I needed to make sure they were safe.

We have the 'SVAT GX5201 Wireless Portable Video Monitor with 2.5-Inch LCD & Night Vision Security Camera' (bought it from Amazon.com) and LOVE IT.
We got an extra camera as well so that we have one above each crib.
So far no problems & we are really happy with it :)

We've tried several handheld video monitors and hands down, the summer is THE BEST. We have the SVAT one but it doesn't work well in our house. There is too much interfeence with the wireless router and our phone. If it's the same one I'm thinking of it's a 2.4 ghz which is the frequency the routers work on and a lot of cordless phones too. The summer is a 900 mhz which is becoming less common as things progress so there isn't as much interference. We also love it because of the two camera option. We have one camera above each crib and can see both girls with the flick of the switch.

We bought this monitor when my son was like 4 months old and have used it ever since. We only wish it was a three camera option since now we can't see our son anymore! (We tried SEVERAL monitors that would go to three cameras and hated them all!!). Oh, yeah and we do have the 2.5' monitor. My friend has the 1.8". BIG difference. Get the 2.5"!!!

We have the Summer handheld, and it is awesome. I would agree with the pp that this is by far the BEST investment we made. FYI - you can find them much cheaper (new in the box) off eBay. We have two cameras and two handheld monitors. We keep one handheld downstairs and one in our bedroom and one camera on each crib.

I tried all sorts of video monitors, including the Mobicam and the larger Summer consoles. The mobicame ran on the same frequency as our cordless phones and wireless internet connection, so we couldn't use them as long as the wireless network was up (always!). The larger summer consoles had a ton of interference and were really cheap and klunky, imo.

Good Luck! You won't regret the purchase!
