Did anyone have very high blood pressure after delivery? My c-section was 8 days ago and it rises every day. I am alarmed - it was 150/107 this morning. My ob put me on blood pressure meds, but it doesn't seem to be helping. She was thinking maybe pre-eclampsia, but I have no other symptoms, and we are waiting for lab results. Any ideas???

It sounds like you have postpartum preeclampsia. It can hit anytime after delivery up to 6 weeks even if you didnt have pree in pregnancy. Please, PLEASE be very careful. If you start to experiece visual changes, pain under your right breast, swelling, a headache that wont go away or your bp gets any higher, please have someone drive you to L&D ASAP. Just a warning, because I think its important you know, pree, even after delivery can also turn into eclampsia, which means you would have a siezure. Some woman are hospitalized again and started on magnesuim sulfate to keep you from seizing. Please be careful.

My blood pressure shot way up after my c-section as well. During my entire pregnancy it was always on the low end of normal, but post delivery it went way up. I also swelled up big time.

It never got high enough to be put on meds, but since my babies were in the NICU they had me visit the L&D triage each day to get my BP checked. It went down after a week.

I'm glad you are being monitored and put on the meds. Hopefully it goes down soon. It scared the bejeezus out of me because my BP is never, ever high.

Since TS does not allow for duplicate threads and the one in FY currently has more responses, I am going to close this thread and request all responses be made in the existing thread here.

    Thanks!
