i have some veggie burgers in my freezer and was thinking of cutting them up very small and giving them to the LO's for lunch?
is that a good idea? we aren't very good at finger foods. i think the only thing we've tried and they've not thrown up are:
    - puffs
    - yogurt melts
    - pancakes (just did this yesterday)

i would love to try some other foods. i looked in the FY sticky for food ideas, too.

i tried peas but one of the LO's threw them up.

I'd probably hold off on the veggie burgers just yet, that's a lot of bulk. I'd go with something easier like Cheerios or Kix, small chunks of sweet potato or bananas. Good luck!

If they are throwing up their finger foods, I would probably stick with really simple things like cheerios, banana, cooked veggies, etc. until they are able to keep those down.

We did veggie burgers but don't bake them or pan fry them, you have to microwave them. They are softer that way. The other good one is meatballs. They fall apart really easily and we never had a problem with them. GL.

the bananas are so mushy they can barely pick them up. i tried peas (thinking they were small) and there was choking going on with them.

have you tried sweet potatoes? I waited a bit for finger foods with my girls. Mostly because I don't really like to deal with messy foods!

they eat them as a meal (pureed) but i've never cut them up and given them to them.
do i bake them as i would a sweet potatoe and then cut them? aren't they very mushy like the banana?

I just get canned sweet potatoes from the grocery store. They come in a sugar sauce that I rinse off then chop them up a little smaller. My boys gobble them up!

Sweet potatoe fies are another good option. You can get them in the freezer section and bake them in the oven.

My boys love baked potatos. You can dice it up small without it being too mushy. We also do a lot of turkey meatballs.

You can toss the cut banana with wheat germ or even crushed Cheerios to make them less slippery.

I'd hold off on the veggie burgers because they may have nuts in them (aside from the throwing-up issue).

Try not to stress too much if they're not getting the hang of finger foods yet. Even my more accomplished eater (Amy) wasn't really much into them until closer to 12 months, and Sarah still preferred purees for at least a month or two after that. Mostly they ate a lot of Cheerios, but that was more for entertainment value.
