Will will pretty much eat anything you put in front of him. John, on the other hand, will eat most anything EXCEPT vegetables. I've tried hiding the veggies in applesauce and everything, and he's too smart!

Do any of you use any other tricks??

    Thanks!

What veges have you tried? Did you try giving them the veges and only the veges first?

green beans, peas, carrots, corn.... you name it, we've tried it, just about.

and yep, we do veggies first with nothing else offered. John winds up throwing most of them on the floor, and I can't bring myself to make him starve just yet.

We have to give our boys pureed baby food still in order to get their veggies into them. They also take a multivitamin because they are very stubborn about everything except for sweet potatoes.

do you think its a taste thing or a texture? (if you're giving chunks or whole - not pureed)?

So far I am very blessed... though I have to laugh my boy likes the orange veggies better and my girl likes the green ones better! I'll start them off with equal parts of sweet potatoes/carrots and broccoli/peas and he'll have green left and she'll have orange left...

I would just suggest to keep trying, just keep going down a list, checking it off...?

are you able to get avocados in? they are a fruit - but are full of nutrition..., lots of good fats and not sweet like other fruit. ours can devour a whole avocado at a meal! I try to limit it to half...

do you think he would like veggie soup? my ds won't eat green beans, peas, or corn alone but he will eat them if i give him veggie soup. he will eat carrots just fine. i still give him veggie baby food so that he gets a variety of veggies. also, i don't want to give him veggie soup everyday! oh, and sweet potato fries. my babies love sweet potato fries. good luck!

I'm in the same boat... only veggies they will eat are veggie burgers or some veggie pancakes I can find at the frozen section of the grocery store... It sucks!

    Dip it! Dip it!
My kids will eat anything we will let them dip in ....ANYTHING (applesauce, maple syrup, barbeque sauce, ketsup, honey, etc....)

Like Erin, sometimes we have to give them baby food to get their veggies in. However, the kids seem to like most veggies with a little butter and sprinkled with cheese.

I agree with the dip suggestion, ketchup and ranch dressing are fav's around here. They'll eat anything dipped in ketchup!

Technically speaking hummus by itself is not a veggie, its made of chickpeas which are a bean. It is really tasty and a healthy source of protien though and it does make a great dip for veggies!!

Thanks for the help! Thankfully, the boys LOVE hummus (original, roasted red pepper, you name it...), so I will start using it as a dip AND a spread.

I think the issue may be texture, but I'm not sure. The only veggie they didn't like when we were giving them jarred baby food was green beans, so I guess I thought that they'd do fine with non-pureed veggies. We've tried salt and butter, but to no avail.

Guess I just need to be more creative! :)

Well, for me creativity is not helping, they're just leaving the veggies out... and I don't think they can get dipping yet :(

Mine do eat veggies, but DD will eat more then DS. Some days they eat more veggies then others. I just try and vary what type of veggies I feed them, how I cook it and what I season it with - sometimes cheese, butter, seasoning, cream cheese. I steam it, fry it, bake it, or boil it. Also, if you give pasta, in the sauce you can hide veggies (put in pureed stuff and they probably wont even notice the taste). I also have a cook book about hiding veggies in desserts and other "regular" foods, I haven't tried many recipes yet but they sound yummy!

I say just dont give up - keep trying and offering veggies. A few other things I try - I have a plate of veggies with them ( so they see me eat it - sometimes this works, and sometimes they just want to feed me their veggies!), I also get excited and cheer and tell them how proud I am of them when one eats a veggie - that can often encourage the other one to do it. And if all else fails I let them watch tv while I feed them, this distracts them enough that I can often sneak in a few bites of veggies before they realize what they are eating! Yes, mealtime is exhausting, but I get at least a few bites of veggies into both of them at each meal - which makes me happy : )

    Good luck!

I use chicken broth(mine, not from the can) to heat up the vegetables. So far it works well for us.

At 16 months I still feed them Stage 3 veggies, it's the only way. One thing they both will eat is freeze-dried peas that I get at Fruitful Yield, but if I give them plan ol peas, nope....on the floor. But they will eat Stage 3 peas. I have a lot of bags of frozen veggies in the freezer that are just sitting there. Hopefully one day I'll be able to use them.
