This has always been something I wondered about. I delivered Lucas, my Baby B, a little over 1 hr after Shawn, Baby A. Lucas had to be turned, which was about the 1st 1/2 hr, then we waited for me to get dilated to 10 again. I was pumped with quite a bit of pitocen. Is it normal to have your cervix "close up" or whatever you want to call it between babies? Did that happen to anyone else? Just curious...

DS came out first then DD followed after 15 mins. She turned breech and came out feet first, hence the delay. I didnt think you could close up. I thought once you were dilated then that was that! Just shows how much I know! ;)

I had 2 hours between baby A and baby B. The average between twins is 17 minutes, I think, so most women don't end up having that issue. It can happen though and if it does, the answer is yes. They almost took me back to my room it took so long for just that reason and my contractions slowed down.

According to trivial pursuit, the longest time between delivery of twins is 3 months! Can you imagine??? That was an unfortunate card I chose while in the hospital delivering the boys.

Mine were about an hour and a half apart--I don't think my cervix closed up, but Baby B just didn't want to move down. Guess he thought it was nice having all that room!

Didn't think it was usual, may well be normal though!
I had mine three minutes apart. Baby B was transverse breech, so they had him hooked up to an ultrasound machine after Baby A was born, and another Dr turned him while I pushed. That part was so quick and easy that I didn't even realise that I had had him already!

Hmmm, never heard about your cervix closing up. Mines were 9 minutes apart.

Though it didn't happen to me (mine were born 8 minutes apart), the cervix can, indeed, re-close partially and thus need to re-dilate for twin 2 to come out. Sounds like a not-so-fun experience :)

I had no idea... And that's probably a good thing. :) Mine were 2 minutes apart, so definately not a problem for me.

My boys were born 8 minutes apart and I've never heard of having to re-dialate. You learn something new every day!

Hmmm...maybe I'm just unique! :p The whole labor & delivery was so fuzzy to me. Now thinking back on it, I have little questions on things that I'm curious about. To this day, I still have no clue if I had 1 or 2 placentas. But one has brown eyes and one has blue eyes so they're fraternal. However eye color didn't settle in until 10 weeks maybe???
