SO Dh and I are dying to go on a vacation! There was a possibility of him getting a business trip to Hawaii and if that happened we were going to make it into a family vacay BUT the more we thought about it the more we realized that w/o any childcare it might end up being more stressful than relaxing SO....

Now we are thinking of doing a family cruise (maybe disney?) or an all inclusive vacation at a resort (open to suggestions as to where to go). MY Mom would come along to help out and allow DH and I to have some alone time too-

We're thinking of going in Jan/Feb or 2010. The twins will be 26/27 months and the new baby will be 8/9 months

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE any suggestions or reccomendations of where to go, if it will be doable and PLEASE be honest if from experience you think it won't be worth the money with kids those ages....

    Thanks
    E

I don't have a whole lot of suggestions for you. I am however interested to see what suggestions others might have. We too are dying for a vacation. We are thinking of just driving to Florida...to do the beach thing. Destin is about a 13 hour drive for us. We are not interested in flying with them again (not yet anyways). We have thought about a cruise, too. We have been on a couple (before kids) and absolutely love that kind of vacation. We just didn't know if it would be feasible with the twins.

Can't wait to see what others have to say!

Too funny we too are now thinking of a resort in Florida or the Florida keys and I even looked up Destin (but we're thinking of January so Destin might be too far north to have a beach vacation in the winter)

Hopefully we'll get more responses! DH and I too have done cruises before kids and enjoyed it but like you wasn't sure how feasable it is to do know with twins and an infant....

If you are thinking of not so expensive but still wonderful, what we did was rent a house in Orlando. :good: It was amazing and VERY close to the parks. It came to about $100/night and you can sleep up to 8 people in the house (more if they don't care where they sleep  ) The house had a pool and was fully equipped with plates, utensils, etc. For us it was great mainly because the kids go to sleep early and this way we stuck them in bed and hung out outside and spent time together. It was very clean and we just had a good experience overall. We looked into the resorts and they were very expensive especially for such young kids. Let me know if you want more information.

We are fortunate that my IL's own a beach house near Charleston, SC, so we have gone there almost every year since the boys were 21 months. Honestly, for me, it really wasn't much of a vacation until the boys were around 4. Until then, I would spend my time chasing them around while everyone else was relaxing (except for the times that FIL would take them on a golf cart ride or to the beach). This year it will be a lot more fun, because both boys are good swimmers, so they can swim without hanging on me and DH. They also have more input in what we do, so are happier when we go places.

Since you are looking at January, southern Florida is probably the place to go.

We were thinking about renting an RV and driving to Orlando. You can stay in the RV park at Disney and there is a shuttle to and from the parks for free. Amenities are included at the RV site too. We figured it would cost about $100 a day to rent the RV and the RV site is a little more pricey at Disney but worth it ($40 a day). Good luck!

Hahahaha.....so true! It is never much of a vacation, but at least a scenery change and new things to do!!

We are planning an all inclusive vacation to Cuba this winter. We went to cuba once when they were 20 months. It was tired and it was not a vacation, but at least I don't have to cook and clean. In conclusion, we had some good time and scenery changes.

What about one of those Sandles resorts that are all-inclusive ? I am just hanging around looking at others suggestions as well. Is there anything other than Disney until they turn 10 yrs of age ???? I'm thinking eventually I'd like to stay at one of the Disney onsite hotels and not spend all day at the parks, instead return to the hotel for a nap, pool swim and wander back to a park in the afternoon. They always seem like such a long day for such little kids and adults too.

Beaches is supposed to be a good family friendly resort, that is all inclusive. Sandals is adults only, but they are all part of the same parent company. I have never been to Beaches, but the advertisements look very appealing. I heard that if your children are not potty trained, they are not allowed in the pools on a cruise. I am not sure of the validity of that statement, but it is worth looking into prior to cruising. With young children, Florida might be your best bet for sun, without traveling to an island. The Fla keys are beautiful, but not too many beaches to play in the sand. We were just at a resort in the Shennadoah mountains. In January, it is not going to be warm and sunny, but they have TONS of indoor activities (they even have their own indoor/outdoor water park!). The place is called Massenuten Resort, and it is VERY kid friendly, especially for 3-6 year olds. In the winter it is a ski resort. It is not all inclusive, but they have their own restaurants right on the resort, so it makes eating easy. It is located just outside of Harrisonburg, VA. Just another non-florida suggestion.
