Hi everyone, We got back from our vacation on thursday and I have to say the ladies did great! We had a 3 1/2 hour plane ride and then a 4 hour car ride and then once there, we were basically camping at my DH's parents' lake house. We got to stay in the camper since his mom was in the cabin and needs her sleep. His sibs had tents so we definitely we enjoying the 'luxury' of a camper.

The ladies did great on the plane. They mostly slept, but when they weren't sleeping they were flirting with the people around us. They also slept for the majority of the 4 hour car ride. We stopped once for diaper changes, but other than that they were so laid back. Thank you everyone for your suggestions about traveling. Not sure if its the age, but DH and I were so pleasantly surprised about how well they did.

So now to my diaper question. The ladies have never really wet thru a diaper. We've had the occassional poopy blowout, but never on a regular basis. Well of course on this trip, they were wetting thru diapers every morning!!! We change them once in the middle of the night (at their midnight bottle) so I don't understand why they woke up wet every morning. Thankfully there was laundry in the cabin, but I really did not anticipate spending the majority of my vacation doing laundry :(

We use pampers swaddlers size 2. The weight range is 12-18 lbs and the ladies are just about 15 lbs right now, so they are definitely not too big or small for them. Anyone else have this problem? We've been using pampers since they were in the newborn size (used huggies preemies before that, and briefly tried kirkland, but they leaked around their legs).

Could it be because they are moving around more now? They are both rolling and scooting on their backs. And they seem to be leaking up their back... actually this morning I noticed that Ana's diaper was down in the back a little (showing some 'plumber crack'!).

Any advice? I guess I may have to buy a bunch of other brands and see if another brand works better. Or do you think I should try a bigger size? Pampers cruisers? Anything else?

    Thanks everyone! -Leighann

I am so inspired by your post! DH and I are getting ready to make plans to take the girls to Ireland to FINALLY meet their grandparents and cousins and uncles over there. The plane ride there is about 6 hours (a little more coming back), anyway, it's great to see that your two did so well and that you all had a great time! (BTW, I love the pic by the ticker!)

The diaper thing, at about the same age as yours, I was noticing them wetting through the diaper too, especially at night. I'm thinking that it's just that they pee more? Not exactly a scientific answer, but that's what I came up with. And it never mattered what brand I used, they all leaked from time to time.

if they start wetting through it generally means you should bump it up a size...regardless of the weight limits...mine are both in size 4's (and are no where near the starting weight on a 4) but the peed through 3's ALL THE TIME!

yep it is probably time to go up a size, esp if they tend to be "heavy wetters" we are in size 3 and probably weigh about the same as your girlies. :)

Thanks!!! I say for a 6 hour over seas flight try to get the bulkhead seating and see if they have the airline has bassinets (I read this in a book about traveling with babies). Also even though it will suck for you, it will probably be easiest to book red eye flights. GL! -Leighann

Thanks! I didn't realize the weight thing didn't matter!!! Guess I'll be going to the store tomorrow for bigger diapers :)

Thanks! I can't believe we are already onto size 3. Seems like just yesterday they were swimming in their preemie diapers. This year is going too fast for me. -Leighann

Definitely try the bigger size. You said your girls are at about 15 lbs, Size 3 start at 16 lbs. So honestly they are probably ready for the bigger size. My son moved into them at about 15lbs as well, he is still in them now as he is only about 20lbs at almost a year old. My son seems to need to move into the next size up when the next size starts and doesn't stay in the smaller size through the whole weight range they list.

I moved him from the Pampers though as they were pricey and I found that Huggies which are always sending me coupons or now Luvs are great and don't leak at all. We went to Luvs as they have the leakguard guarantee, if you have leaks you send them 1 diaper from the pack, your purchase price and they will refund your money. Never had a leak with the Luvs.

My boys were wetting through from the day we brought them home from the hospital. They were wearing newborn sized swaddlers. The diaper would be completely dry and the urine would somehow saturate their entire back, almost up to their necks! Then the nurse came to visit us and check on their progress and told me that I had to "tuck in " their penises with the top part of the diaper. I was like "huh"? She showed me what she meant and it took me a couple times to get it right, but since then they very rarely leak. By tucking it in, you trap the urine. I asked the nurse if the same leaking thing happens with girl babies and she said no, just boys. Are your girls leaking up the back, around the legs, or in the front? The nurse also told me that it doesn't matter how tight/loose the diaper is by using the tabs. The whole leaking thing really bothered me so I understand how frustrated you must be

ok, I know everyone here agrees that it is time to move up in the diaper size but I have another idea. Of course if my idea is not correct then I also agree to move up a size in diapers.

When my sister went upstate on vacation they stayed in a cabin at a campground. The first few mornings my neice (9 months old at the time) also wet through her diapers. My sister then changed her into a heavier sleeper and everything was fine and she was dry again at night. Apparently it was much colder upstate at night then it was here and my neice was pp'ing more overnight and leaking because of it.

Did you go someplace colder than where you live? And also, since you stayed in a camper it may have been colder for your girls than they are used to and that could have been the issue too.
