We will be taking our girls to Cancun at the end of February. I have a couple of questions and I am hoping that you guys can help.

    1. How do we wash bottles when we are there? We use Dr. Browns. By that time they will be on Formula and EBM. We will be using bottled water for the formula, but is it ok to wash the bottles with mexican water? We do not own enough bottles for a week and I can't seeing carring that many with all the other stuff we are going to need to bring.

    2. Should we bring a PNP or use the hotel crib?

    3. Should we bring the double snap and go or the dupglider? They are only 13 lbs. so they are still in their infant seats.

    4. Is there anything that you can think of for us to bring that we may overlook? You know, something that once you were at your destination you kicked yourself for forgetting?

Thanks for your help - oh, the girls will be 7 1/2 months when we go

If you are staying at a nice hotel..you can "Usually" drink the water on the resort..it is filtered. You can also tell if the water is filtered by looking at the ice they serve...if the ice is round with a hole in it..filtered...I have been to Mexico a dozen times and all resorts I stay at have filtered water and I have rank and brushed my teeth with...never a problem...when you leave your resort..that is when you have to watch it. To play it safe I guess.....use bottled water for the kids. But I think you should be okay...I have only been to Cancun once many years ago (decade) it reminded me of Miami. So we always go more rural now.

    ENJOY!!!!!

Yes like the PP said, if it is a nice resort the water should be fine. I went to Cancun a few years ago and didn't have a problem with the hotel water at all.

I would personally use the crib the hotel provides since I wouldnt want to take extra baggage with me if I didn't have to.

I'm not sure about the stroller, if you are planning on bringing the car seats anyways I would bring the snap and go. If yours are anything like mine, they sleep much better in the snap and go, so for being out it may be easier.

Ive never taken my girls anywhere, so I can't think of anything else! Have fun, I LOVED Cancun!

We just got back from a vacation with our 8 month olds. I would say not to use the water to rinse the bottles. I would rinse them with bottled water and if you have a microwave in the hotel room, use the microwavable steamer bags to sterilize. I would use your snap in go if you have to bring the car seats, because you can check all of it at the gate of the airplane. If you are planning on nursing on the plane wear a bright colored necklace for the babies to look at or they will easily get distracted. I don’t know if you bought all three seats in the row but if you didn’t be prepared for the airlines to separate you and your husband because there is only 4 oxygen masks per row so if you have two lap babies they say you can’t all sit together. Also changing diapers on the plane is difficult without the use of that middle seat. We brought antibacterial wipes and wiped down everything the kids could touch once we sat down in our row. As for once we arrived, I was happy I brought the teething biscuits for when we were eating at tables. It kept them entertained. Have a great trip!

that is awesome you are taking them! so many people get so freaked out taking their children anywhere- that's awesome!

we have always taken our pnp- you can just check it as a luggage item. it's so nice to know that you'll at least have one- just in case they can't get you one right away or whatever. whenever we travel things don't always go as planned! [IMG]

have you given your kiddos bottled water already? josiah will NOT take bottled water.. it is just the weirdest thing. we thought the first time we tried he was just being a stinker- or getting sick. so we went back to tap water and he drank it. well we just got back from Colorado and we wanted to use bottled water- he wouldn't drink it again so we dumped the bottle and gave him the tap water and he drank it. just an fyi!!!

ask for 2 aisle seats so you can sit by your husband. we had to pass off abigail to the person next/kiddie corner to me cause of the oxygen mask thing- they were sweet newly married college students who were pregnant also so it wasn't weird.

i would take a few diapers but then buy the rest there- it's easier.

    hth some!

We're going to Jamaica on 2/10 and they'll be 2 1/2 months old.

I plan to give them bottled water for their formula and wash their bottles with the regular tap water. I'm planning on taking 8 bottles (that's what I usually use anyway) and wash them (bring a brush!!!). We're actually going to be in a 2-bedroom suite with kitchenette, so I might even be able to boil the parts once in a while.

    I ordered 2 hotel cribs.

I plan to take their car seats to get to the airport and from the airport to the hotel, but I won't take the Snap n Go. I'll be bringing a Maclaren umbrella stroller because I don't think the car seats are really handy with the warm weather and for longer periods of time, especially not with my son's reflux.I rather have them recline in a regular stroller walking around at the premises.

We bought one extra seat, so I need a car seat on board as well, and they'll have to store the other seat somewhere (flight looks pretty full at this point).

We did get 3 seats so that we will have the whole row and maybe one of us won't have to be holding a baby for the whole flight. I guess that we bring one car seat on the plane and gate check the other with the stroller.

Can anyone tell me how early the got to the airport and what we should expect?

I would not try to deal with Dr. Browns on the road. We always used the Playtex disposables. What is nice about these (the drop-ins are better than the bags, which will explode or leak badly if not installed correctly) is that you always have a mostly clean bottle and you toss when done. We used these a lot when traveling. You might also bring one of those plug-in water boiling pitchers. Medela also makes sterilizing bags. If you will have a room with a microwave, and bring bottled water, you could sterilize nipples and rings in that.

I have found that nine times out of ten, hotel cribs range from grungy and well-worn in the best case, disgusting and dangerous on the bad side. This is even in fancy hotels. They use and reuse these to death. If it won't be inconvenient, I would definitely bring your own.

Try them in the smaller stroller while still home and see if it works. It will be SOOO much easier to have a more compact stroller. Of course, I don't have that stroller, so you will regret the loss of a good basket and/or cup holder if that doesn't have one.

The two main keys to a pleasant trip with kids is to plan ahead and stick to routines. Also, be ready for encountering places (maybe even many) where a stroller can't go easily. You might consider bringing a couple baby carriers.

That age, 7.5 months, is part of what I call the golden age of traveling with kids. They are old enough they don't need constant attention, but not big enough to be squirmy or running around or bored easily. Babies that age are super portable. Enjoy your trip!

Make sure to take a small plastic container to wash the bottles in along with a little bottle of dishwashing soap and a bottle brush. I always used the pink plastic box I took home with me from the hospital and kept it packed with my dish soap, a spare bottle brush, and a towel to dry the bottles on. If you have your own container, you have a clean area to wash the bottles and don't have to worry about just how well the sink was cleaned.

Take some antibacterial wipes for the plane and hotel and some masking tape to childproof if the girls start to crawl before your trip.

I would use the hotel crib but remember to bring your own sheets and you may want a large extra sheet to cordone off the area where the girls sleep from yours if you don't think they'll sleep well with your right there.

The girls may be too tall for their infant carseats in a month so you'll have to take the Duoglider. If they don't grow that much and you don't need the storage, snack trays, or parent tray that the Duoglider provides then I would take the Snap n Go.

You'll probably want to bring your slings or baby carriers for shorter walks.

    Have fun!
