So Izak has been getting up at 5:30-6am :shok: these past few days and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. He is bright eyed and bushy tailed and either talking or screaming so loud he wakes his brother (still share a room). I've been leaving him up there in hopes that he will fall back asleep as their usual wake time is between 7:30-8 (bedtime is between 7:30-8pm) but he doesn't ... just keeps on a talking. :headbang: I than bring them down at 7am if they don't go back to sleep. I don't go in the room as I think it will perk him up more and than if his brother is awake I'm really doomed.

Any other LO's go through this? Is this a phase? We've tried putting him to bed a little earlier and little later ... no change. ho hum. :unknw:

Are they napping once or twice/day? Perhaps this is a sign that he is ready for only one nap/day??

I hate it when this happens! Could he be wet or soaked through? I know sometimes if my guys wake up and they are wet through they have a hard time getting back to sleep.

We are in that weird transition time where we go day by day; sometimes 2 naps, sometimes just one. But these past few days he's only be taking one nap.

They haven't soaked through in a long time so I don't think it's that.

I'm really stumped on this one. My DH does go to work at 5:30am but tries to be REALLY quiet plus the boys room is upstairs with a radio and humidifier that runs.

Crossing my fingers that tomorrow is a late sleep in!!! DH is sick! ugh.

This might not be helpful, but could it maybe temperature (comfort) or hunger?

I wish ours usually slept that long ;D for us usual bedtime is between 7:30 -8:p.m. (though one hasn't been falling asleep until almost 10 lately! And waking 6-6:30 a.m.

Ours have been having wakings in the middle of the night lately, and this might seem like a stupid question but...

Is your home colder than normal? Ours were having a lot more wakings and waking up early when a cold snap went through the state. More blankets helped this!

Ours also do this sometimes if it turns out they had dinner early or didn't eat much for dinner.

Rhys is my earlier riser and we have tried most everything to get him to go a bit later (awake b/t 5-5:30) We won't go into their room prior to 6am but it still hasn't made a difference. Started putting the boys to bed at 6:30 and like you hasn't made a difference in their waking time but at least they are a little more happy. We still NEED 2 naps/day though. Interested to read all the answers....

It might just take him a little while to adjust to the new schedule with only one nap/day. I can remember my girls having weird early wakeups for a while and then it settled back to 7-7:30am although today they thought 5am was an acceptable time to wake up. Um. NO!

FWIW, we just made the transition to 1 nap, and it has really messed up their naps and we've had a rash of night-wakings as well. They were doing 2 1.5 hour naps, and now they're napping *maybe* 1 hour a day. But we've only been at this for a week or so, so I'm hoping things will settle down once they get used to the new schedule.

I also think a PPs suggestion of evaluating the temperature of their room is a good one. I know my guys wake a lot more if they're cold. We use fleece sleepsacks and that keeps them really cozy all night long.

I hope you figure this out soon! :)
