This week has been a doozy! Both boys are on a crazy, destructive path and TO's are a frequent pit stop.

The thing I'm having the most trouble with is the language. Aaden has figured out the word poopyhead and will. not. stop. saying. it. All day yesterday and now it's starting today. We have asked him not to say that word and now it's progressed into an automatic TO. But so far he's still saying it. I'm just not sure if I should stick with the TO or ignore it cause I know he knows that it gets a rise out of me. I just don't want to send them to daycare (only go once a week) and call another child that. Any ideas or what's worked for you? Thanks!

I would stay strong and not give in, but try not to let it get you worked up. It'll take longer to get rid of the more you let it get to you. He'll eventually get the message. If you don't put your foot down now, it'll also turn into other names...

    Time out, and calmly. :)

Probably time-out and calm will work.

If you need something else (or just want commiseration), this worked on my 8 year old. He wouldn't quit using the word "poop". I warned him. Then I made him go the bathroom and try every single time he said the word. I told him that if he was going to use a bathroom word then he needed to try to go the bathroom. It took one day and he decided that he didn't need to say that word anymore.

Will definitely continue with TO and calm. Sometimes you just lose sight of whether what you're doing is effective or will be effective. I know that I can always come here for a good reminder of what I'm doing and why! Thanks girls!
