So ds is practically potty trained and dd is just starting. This morning she woke up with a dry diaper so I put her on the little potty. She did pee pee

When I went to dump it into the big potty her urine was very concentrated(I guess she is needing more fluids) and there was also silt like sutuff in the bottom. It was whitish stuff that was swirling at the bottom. There was quite a lot, not just a little.

She doesn't seem to have an infection, that I can tell anyway.

Any thoughts on what this is? Should I bring her to the doc?

Not really sure what that could be... are you sure it wasnt something that could have already been in the potty before she pee'd? That would be my initial thought. I would clean out the potty and see if I could get her to go on it again, and see if it is there again. ? ;)

It was definately clean before hand. but it did look like left over detergent or something like that even though I know that is not what it was.

I think concentrated is pretty normal after a whole night. If she's just beginning to last the whole night I wouldn't be increasing fluids!

No idea on the sediment though.

I remember my bag looking like that when I was on bedrest. It was always the first of the morning urine. The staff who took care of my bag were not concerned about it. If my urine continued to be concentrated during the day then they got on me about drinking more fluids but the first time after sleeping the night was not a concern.

I think that shedding cells is part of normal function of the urinary tract, and maybe since it had been all night, and her urine was so concentrated, you could see it better than normal diluted urine? I don't know for sure, but(TMI) I have seen it before in my urine too, and actually it was while I was pregnant(peeing in a cup!), and the nurse was not concerned.

    Congrats on the dry night!

Probably just some debris that was on the skin or skin itself that came off when she urinated. But it is possible that it's something worth looking into -- kidney calculi (stones) could look like what you describe. I'd keep checking it -- and keep her nicely hydrated -- and if you see it again, it is worth talking to your pediatrician.

Since she doesn't appear to have any discomfort, though, my guess is it's nothing to be concerned about.
