If you had the placenta tested at birth and it was truely one, and not two fused together, don't you already know that they are ID?

1 placenta, but it was fused and they had 2 chrions and amnions. so he didn't know if it was fused or just 1. know what i mean? i dunno. the dr told me it was inconclusive.

My girls had their own placenta so we natually always thougth they were Fraternal. My pediatrician kept saying they look identical and he explained how it splits and they could have their own placentas. Anyway, after getting them tested they are identical.

    I vote for ID.

We spent my entire pregnancy thinking my girls were fraternal (although I never gave up hope they were ID). OB thought there was 2 placentas, but wasn't sure. They couldnt' tell me for sure at any of my other u/s either. When they were born they checked the placenta and it was a single placenta, not fused or anything. Which I suspected since I had no idea who was who when they were born LOL

I vote identical, but that is a little confusing about the placenta/placentas. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought if there are two chorions, there are two placentas. And, in your case, they fused...but why would the doctor say it could be one if there was a fusing of two?

In the first two pictures, they look identical. Then in the last pic. they don't. So I voted "I don't know!" Gosh it must be hard waiting.

yeah... this whole placenta thing is totally confusing. but i'm pretty sure i read you can have 2 placents and still be identical, whether they are fused or not. it all just depends on when the egg splits... they say the only absolute is if they share the same sac... at least that's what i've gathered from all the reading... but i think the placenta. as far as the lab work went they didn't have

it's supposed to take like 10 days to get the results, but we are waiting until Christmas morning... so you'll all have forgotten by then...

here's the link where i read most recently about placentas..

    http://multiples.about.com/cs/funfacts/a/twinzygosity.htm

    it's towards the bottom...

we used that company two... proactive genetics...

I voted for identical. I have Identical twin girls. We had them tested at 16months. We had the placentas examined after birth but the doctor said that the tests were inconclusive. They each had their own sac, own placenta. The membrane that seperated them was very thin. At first they thought they were in the same sac but after looking a little bit on the ultra sound they found a thin membrane seperating them.
