Update on TTTS & Surgery

Well we had to be at the hospital yesterday morning at 5:30am. They got me all prepped and the surgery started about 7:30-7:45. They were wonderful and took very careful care of myself and the babies. Our girls were sharing 27 vessels between them, which is higher than the typical average of 16-20. They feel confident that they got them all. Our little donor baby has 30% vessels going straight to the placenta. Although the other doc came in and he felt it was more like 40%. Either way it is better than hoped for as they like to see at least 20%. They put 2 micro tiny holes in the membranes between the girls. Then they took 3 liters of amniotic fluid off the bigger baby. They said it was about 6lbs of fluid, pretty crazy really. We spent the night at the hospital last night and early this morning we had our ultrasound and they found both babies heartbeats right away!! Praise GOD!! We are so tickled. We are tucked in tight here at the hotel right now as we are getting a big snow storm here. Our next appointments to check everything again are on Thursday and Lord willing if all looks good we will head home. Thanks for all the encouraging words and prayers from all of you.

Praise God!! I am so happy for you and your DH!! follow the orders for post-surgery and do the bed rest they tell you to do. WOOHOO!

The doctors that did my surgery said they only cut 7 vessels and did not mention there normally being 16 - 20 to cut...my boys are doing good two weeks later but I'm still going to ask my MFM and call Houston if i need to.

I have been on pins and needles waiting for your results. When I saw the update I got tears in my eyes and told DH who's sitting right next to me. We are so absolutely thrilled for you, you can't imagine! Get some rest and let us know how you're doing. 3 Liters?!?! That is just amazing! They will continue to be in my prayers.
