Thank you again everyone for your kind words and thoughts for my MIL. My DH, his 7 sibs, and a couple of my nieces spent the weekend taking shifts at the hospital, telling stories and trying to keep it relaxed. Being the big Irish Catholic family that they are, several priests were around, lots of beer was consumed (a nurse 'reprimanded' them about their alcohol policy but kind of in a joking way), and hospice came each day to check on them. At 4am this morning my MIL passed. This is such a tough time because my FIL passed in April, but at least for her final days my MIL was surrounded by all her loving children and a few of her grandchildren.

The girls and I survived the nor'easter and my very kind neighbor came over to plow out our driveway. Even though its cold I hope to get out today since the girls were going nuts yesterday. We watched way too much tv (some of the those christmas specials are kind of scary), but I'm just doing the best I can given that I'm alone with them... My mom and sister are coming tomorrow so I can go to work for a little while... I think the girls will like that since they are getting bored with me and my bad singing.

Hopefully DH will be home on Saturday or Sunday, but I'm trying not to be selfish about this. He will definitely be home for Christmas and thats all I really care about. Thank you again for all the support... -Leighann

I am very sorry to hear about your mil. It is a hard time of the year to have to go through a loss. I am very proud of you for making it through all by yourself with the girls.

She couldn't have asked for a better send-off. It sounds like she raised some great kids who were lucky to be with her when she passed. I hope your dh comes home soon and that your family has a merry Christmas.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss... But what a beautiful picture, all the family rallying around her and surrounding her with love in her last moments. And I'm glad your DH will be home for Christmas.

Big hugs going out to you & your family. :hug99: Lots of sympathy coming your way.

So sorry to hear about your MIL. My sympathies and condolences to you, your DH and your family. I lost my father in August. Never a good time to lose a parent.

    Wishing you a Merry Christmas.
