I went in today to be monitored for contractions, do my FFN and all of that fun stuff. I had some mild uterine irritation as they call it but much better than last week. After the tests were done I went to see my regular OB.
We talked a lot today about what we want when we get to the point of viability - meaning if my boy shows signs of distress, at what point am I ok with taking them both - it's a hard thing to think about and I told them for now until I get to 26 weeks I would not want to risk them both but I really have to see at that point how big they are and what their chances are. His goal is 32 weeks for me.......

I get anothe growth scan on Wed along with a doppler check and will sit with the Peri after that is done. My OB said both are transverse and really have been the whole time, he does not want stress on me or them so it will be a definite c-section no matter what - a little disappointed in that but I have to do what is best.

Just wanted to give a quick update......

Joanna, I know what a difficult decision this is to make. Just take it one day at a time. With IUGR for restricted blood flow, you'll still have a little time to decide once it gets to the point of needing to deliver for the smaller baby. I can't believe I'll be 32 weeks next week. It seems like just yesterday that I was admitted at 26 weeks.

    You can do it momma!

ps...have they put you on stinkin' bed rest yet????

    Thank You all sooo much.
No bedrest yet but the doc said at 28 weeks no more going into work - he is OK if they allow me to work from home (unlikely) but if not, then I'm out until they arrive. Like you, my doc feels my goal is 32 weeks so that's what I'm shooting for. Keeping little goals though - 24,26,28 etc....
Scared to pieces about the c-section though.....I'm such a baby.....

    Joanna,

Like you said...all we can do is take it one milestone at a time. Try not to stress out too much about the c-section. My thoughts are with you!

    Hi Joanna,
You are doing great. 32 weeks will be here in no time. In the meantime, rest, rest, rest, until you get there. Screw work there is way more important things!

As for the c-section, don't be scared. I had a c-section with my first baby and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be. I was really disappointed not to have a vaginal birth, but it really doesn't matter how they come out as long as they come out safe. I told my ob this time that I didn't care if he hit me over the head with a club and used an ice-pick to get them out as long as I get to take two healthy babies home at the end of it, whatever he thinks is best!! The recovery time was much quicker then I thought to. So you will be fine.

Keep updating us. Thinking of you and your little ones.

First of all, I wanted to tell you that you are my hero, and are just doing so amazing well! I love reading all your updates!

Don't be scared of the c-section. It's SO not a big deal. I know it seems like it should be, but it really isn't. I came home with my twins 4 days after my c-section, and still was able to carry them, change them, take the up and down the stairs (even though I don't think I was supposed to). So don't even waste your worry on that!!

Just take it one day at a time, and every day remind yourself just how amazing you are! You are doing so great, and should be really really proud of yourself!

Joanna I am so glad your little ones are doing well. 26 wks is very early and I pray you can keep them in longer than I was able to. I hate that my little ones are in the NICU.

I am still praying for you and your little ones. Congrats on a great appointment!

Baby steps hun, that's all you can do!! You are doing great tho so hang in there, 26 wks will be here soon and then you can decide on the next step!!

The c/s will probably take about 45 mins or so, really it doesn't take too long, the putting everything back in place and sewing you back up is what takes the longest. I've had 2, and while my first wasn't pleasant (semi-emergency), my second planned c/s with my dd was a piece of cake! As long as you stay on top of the pain meds, don't be a hero, and you can get thru it!!

Yep. The C-section doesn't take long. Mine (for a singleton) took about half an hour and then I spent about half an hour in recovery. I even beat my little girl back to my room!

    Joanna,
You and your babies have done sooo well so far, hang in there, like you said, one step at the time.
I´m also terrified of the c-section, both my babies are breech so there is no option for me and I don´t think they have much space to turn around anymore... :(

Thanks again everyone - I go tomorrow for another growth scan so we'll see what progress has been made....I'm hoping he has turned into the incredible hulk and is now HUGE..... :p Of course I hope the same for my girl, although I'd prefer she be a bit more petite.....
I have gotten bigger this week in general so I am keeping my fingers crossed....
