We quit giving one DS his 10pm "dreamfeed" bottle about 2 weeks ago, and he sleeps through the night (6:45pm - 6am). We tried this past Friday to drop the 10pm bottle for my other DS, but he woke up at 11, 12 and 2 (when I finally gave him a bottle which he drank). He didn't drink as much at his morning bottle that day though. He hasn't been finishing his morning bottle for the past week, which is why we tried to drop the 10pm feeding. At the 10 pm feeding it varies what he'll drink. Some nights he'll drink 4 or 5 oz, and others he'll only drink 2.

During the day they get 4 bottles, cereal 3x a day, and we just started veggies at lunch. They drink about 20-22 oz. with the 4 bottles and about 4 1/2 oz. mixed with the cereal throughout the day.

Do you think it's time to stop the 10pm feed and not go to him if he wakes up? I don't want to push him, but I also don't want to continue to feed him out of habit and not hunger.

    Thanks for the advice!!

UPDATE: We dropped the 10pm bottle last night for my one DS who was still getting it, he woke at 2 and cried for 15 minutes (we didn't go to him at all), and then slept until 6 am!!

I think it's worth a try. Go with your instincts. If it doesn't work out you can always go back to giving it. Since he is not consistently downing the whole bottle each time, that might be an indication that he doesn't really need that bottle. But don't be surprised if once in a while he cries for that feeding and he downs the whole thing. My one dd does this once in a while and I figure she needs the extra calories. at around 6 months I think we started giving them their 7pm bottle as the last one. GL

We are having this issues too. The girls go to bed around 6pm and we are still doing the 10pm feeding and they are sleeping til around 6am. Last night though Haley wouldn't take but 3oz which is unusual so we are trying to decide to drop it or keep it.

I think if you already have one not getting it, you might as well try with your other son and see what happens. Pacifiers have worked for us when they wake in the middle of the night and they go right back to sleep

That was probably the point where I switched my kiddos feeding schedules to 3 meals a days (with bottles after) and a bedtime bottle.
You should always do what you feel they are ready for but I wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

We dropped our dreamfeed right before 6 months because the babies started waking and seemed frustrated. It was no longer a dreamfeed. It took them a couple of nights to adjust to the new schedule. I think you should give it a week and see what happens. If you DS continues to wake then he may still need it. My two drink about the same amount as yours; however, mine aren't getting quite as much solids during the day. Mine have never had big appetites. Good luck!

I would definitely try to drop it and maybe up the amount of ounces they are getting during the day....let us know how it goes!!

we are in the exact same situtaion. I am afraid to drop that 10:00 bottle but I think it is time. THey eat solids 2 times a day and drink 4 6-8 oz bottles. I think I will wait 2 or 3 more weeks. (I love being able to sleep after 10:00 with a baby waking only every once and a while!)

We had to have them CIO when we decided to stop the 3:00 bottle at 5 1/2 months. I think we will have to have them CIO when we drop the 10:00 bottle.

Let me know how it goes if you decide to drop the 10:00

If I can convince my DH, I think we'll try it. Last night my DS only ate about 2 oz at 10:00 p.m. He woke up crying at 4 am, but he's very congested, and I think that woke him up. I put the pacifier in, and he slept until 6:45. He then ate a full bottle at 7. I'll let everyone know how it goes!!
