We are going to Minnesota in 2 weeks so DH's family can meet the girls. Thankfully one of his sisters has a bunch of things we can use when we get out there. She is hooking us up with car seats, a stroller (single, but thats ok), p-n-p, and a swing. We are bringing their bjorns (we'll carry them in them in the airport), but aside from that and some toys, we are just bringing bottles, clothes, towels and sheets. I'll order formula, diapers and wipes online to be delivered out there.

Is there anything else you wish you had when you went on your first vacation with your kiddos? DH said it would be nice to have boppies, but we can prop them up with pillows or just lay them on a blanket on the floor. I think changing them on the floor is going to hurt my back so I plan on pawning them off on their adoring aunties!!!

I'm really excited about the trip, but I want to make it as comfortable for them as possible. Thanks for any advice you can give me :)

Wouldn't you need the car seats for the airplane?? I cannot think of anything else...toys....bring a few baby toys for them. I would also bring Tylonal too. When we go to the lake, I pretty much pack my house (I know it is different since you are flying). I have always made sure to have the Motrin/Tylonal with me.

It is nice that things will be there for you...takes a lot off of you since babies need so much stuff....I would have to pack 3 bags for Emily when she was a baby...can't wait to see what it will be like with the twins!

you dont need them unless you arent going to hold your baby the whole time.. But since they are 4 months I am assuming they'll just hang out in the bjorns?! :)

I think you got it all, just what the pp said, make sure you take tylenol, just in case! (or make sure they have it!)

If your twins are anything like mine, this is a great time to travel. I flew twice with them at around 4 months, and it was pretty easy. And I did it by myself!
Like you, I had lots on the other end - pnps for them to sleep in, towels, washcloths, diapers, formula and bottles were all waiting for us.
Bring more diapers than you think you will need for the plane/airport, and more formula, and a change of outfit for twins AND you, in case there is a mess.

My friends just flew with their baby and found that the flight attendants were happy to rinse out a bottle with the steam-heated water they have on board. Not sure how that is from airline to airline, but it is worth asking. We used a lot of bottles on our flight, but I brought a ton with me.

I did introduce them to some new toys once we got there. They weren't really interested in toys until that point, so maybe bring some hard board or soft books and some toys they haven't been interested in too much. Mine played with a few of those soft Lamaze toys for the whole plane ride each time. I just kept switching out toys and rattles, fed them, and they fell right asleep. They were very interested in people and their new surroundings and they spent a ton of time playing on the floor on the quilt. I was nervous about leaving the swings behind, but they never missed them, and you've got one so I think you are set!

You might have to unpack all the formula to show to security when you go through, so I recommend that you put that and the ziplock bag with lyour liquids/toothpaste, etc. in a separate carry-on so that you know where all that stuff is and can just empty one bag into a gray bin really quickly before you go through security. You may have to take the babies out of the bjorns and carry them through in your hands while the bjorns go through x-ray.

Have a great trip! I would also take tylenol and oragel if you are going to use that with them - mine started teething pretty badly just after they turned 4 months.

Hi April, We didn't buy them seats so no we don't need the car seats for the plane. It wasn't worth the extra expense since its only a 3 1/2 hour plane ride and the girls prefer to sit on our laps anyway.

Thanks for reminding me about Tylenol- its on my list :)

Yup they will stay in their bjorns.. they love 'em so hopefully they will sleep for most of the plane ride. -Leighann

Thanks Becky! I'll add 'patience' to my list and hopefully I'll actually remember it :)

I'll also add 'sense of humor' because I've been known to lose mine when I get stressed out.

Thanks for the advice! I can't imagine doing this alone- you are a brave woman :)

That is a great tip about putting all the liquids in one bag. DH and I will each take a diaper bag and I'll pack all the liquids in one and everything else in the other. Then if needed, I can always resort it once we get thru security.

    Thanks again everyone!!! -Leighann
