We just wanted to give some advance warning to all members here that we are presently scheduling some community web site upgrades the weekend of Friday, March 30 - Saturday, March 31 (it could last until Monday morning, April 2).

While Twinstuff will not be offline during that time, we are going to have a cutoff on Friday night, March 30 of around 9:00 p.m. central time in which all new posts and new member registrations will not be permanent. In other words, you can keep posting here and new folks can register during that weekend, but come Monday morning those posts made over the weekend will disappear.

We will be transferring our huge member database and forum post history to a new host and software system (with lots of new bells and whistles in store for you!) and need to have a cutoff point to start the transfer.

Once the switch is complete visitors here will automatically be transferred to the new site and the first time they visit the new board they will have to use the lost password tool to retrieve a new password. We'll explain this in more detail later, but you might want to make sure that your current account here uses a valid email address as you will need to be able to access whatever email address you associate with your account here in order to access our new home.

Please also note that all PT's (private topics) will not be transferred to the new site. They will be purged by Monday, April 2. You will be able to start up new PM's (private messages) on the new site, but won't be able to continue current PT's after the transition.

Existing photo galleries here will also not be transferred although you'll be able to create new ones there (and again, we have a lot of new goodies on this new host as well).

You'll have to recreate some aspects of your signatures over there (perhaps not all of it) and there will be somewhat of a learning curve for some users, but we're confident it will be relatively painless for most of us.

We are currently testing the new platform and it's beinng met with terrific reviews by the Twinstuff members who are testing it.

I'll provide more updates as we get closer to our transition date.

Will our "buddies" list remain or will those, too, be lost?

Once you find your way around, you may find the newer site easier so don't worry! I think the new setups is more comfortable [IMG]

Your current buddies list will not transfer as the new software uses a different "friends" system. The new community probably offers more featuers, though, in terms of communicating directly with friends and in small group-like settings.

The most important thing will be following the instructions to get your new password and then logging on. From there you'll be able to do it!! It's not hard!! We'll be there to answer questions too!

The new site is really nice, and the features are so easy to use, I think after the conversion that TS will be 100% better. [IMG]

Okay, this may sound stupid, but what about the avatars? Will we need to make new ones? Not that it's a bad thing, I was thinking of getting a new one anyway.

    The new site sounds good!

The avatars are a different size 125x125. BUT, they will be automatically resized, so you don't have to be exact.

We hope the avatar transfer is seamless but won't be sure until next week. The new software does have an extra photo feature for members - personal photos. Those will be available for all to use. Not sure yet about the avatars and whether we will modify our current policy any (one free avatar per registered site member and unlimited avatars for Rewards Members). It won't be modified towards more free avatars for regular site members here, but with the introduction of personal photos (in your profile) we may eliminate the one free avatar per registered site member rule.

Thanks! I've already used my freebie a couple years ago (wow, have I been here that long?). I just need to load my most recent pics into my computer and find a nice one of them together for another avatar. Best of luck to me on that one, lol.

There is a post about it in the Cornucopia Forum.

Craig, I already signed in over there and used my same log-in name, but a slightly different password than here. Will that be affected when the big switch occurs?

I know I am not Craig but all members currently testing the new software will have to follow these same steps, every person will have to use the lost password retrieval.

What Dianne said is correct. Everyone (our few who are testing the board there for one more day and our vast majority of site members who will be forwarded there early next week) will need to use the lost password tool to retrieve their password when initially logging in and therefore maintain their existing account information from here.

The posts, IDs and arcade scores from our test period will be wiped out.
