The boys went over their grandma's for a few days last week & then magically they return home and are up around 6-6:30 compared to the usual 7:30ish. It has completely thrown their whole schedule off & frankly, I'm a little tired! I can obviously tell their still tired. Their routine hasn't changed during the day at all since they were 8 months old. They still nap 10-noon & 2-4 & are in bed by 7pm. For the past few days, DH & I have tried shifting things a bit to see if it works & even skipping a nap to see if they were ready for 1, but no such luck as nothing has gone back to normal. I know there is nothing you can do to make them sleep longer, but our routine has been set for months on end & I can't see it changing now for good. What do you think I can do?

It could be developmental, are they learning something new?

My girls went through an early morning phase around a year, like 430am early! Have you tried putting them to bed like 15mins earlier? Sometimes that helps.

They have figured out how to finally pull up to a stance in their crib & I have been finding them crying while doing so even though they know how to get back down..

That is it! It took mine about 2 weeks to finally stop standing in the corners of their crib reciting novels back and forth to each other in baby talk.

I also think trying to put them to bed a little earlier may be worth a try. Also if they arent screaming for you at 6:30, leave them be for a bit and see if they go back to sleep.

Ours have been waking early too for the past 3 weeks since they have been sick!
I've noticed that DS is waking with the sun rising and it's coming up sooner now ...YUCK!
Do you have black out curtains? I just bought some the other day and have put them up and it's helped him sleep in maybe 30 mins longer.

Best of Luck & Hope that they get back on sched soon :)

Its probably the standing. I agree with Rachel, let them fuss for a bit at 6;30 and see if they'll plop back down and fall back to sleep.

our boy had that, they usually sleep from 6:30pm to 6:30am (with 9:30am 1 hr nap and 1pm 1 1/2hr nap)....when they started walking, they would also stand in crib, so Kaden would wake up between 5:15 and 6am and just fuss.
I agree with others, try let them, sometimes they fall back asleep.

also, you have 2 long 2 hours nap, I know we all like the same routine for a while, unfortunately, it changes...they won't be on the 2 long ones for a long time....why don't you try to have them nap shorter in am, maybe 1 hour? and then pm can be long, and again, move bedtime a bit earlier, it helped with mine.

now they are used to walking and and standing good and are sooo tired...also, good day stimulation helps.

I have been dealing with this too. My boys have been waking up at 5:30am when they usually wake up at 6:30am. I've tried everything and nothing worked but after a few weeks they started sleeping until 6am. I' m hoping when we go to one nap a day they will finally sleep 12 hours a night instead of 10.

I'm dealing with this lately, too, for really the first time - no explanation! Wish I could help.
