I recently thought Nevada would be a cool name for a boy. Not too out there, but different.

Nevaeh and Nevada for G/B twins would be cute.
Then Nevin or Nova and Nevada for B/B ........Or even Nobi.....sounds like Kobe but with a N and I.

Do you like these? What are you unusual/different names for boys? As far out there as you can manage...I'd like to see them.

Nevada sounds like a girls name to me.
But anything ending in an A will sound like a girls name to me!

I have to say, I love Nova! and it gives me the idea to start looking more towards the sky and beyond for names for my boys. It's not like I've had much luck looking around down here!

For the most part I think names ending in -a sound feminine, so I'd personally stay away from Nevada or Nova for a boy.

As for Nobi, see what Wikipedia has to say about that word . . . "Nobi is a Korean word for a system of servitude which was in place from about the 4th century. It descaled greatly during the latter half of the Joseon Dynasty and was eventually abolished by the Japanese in the 20th century. Nobi can refer to either the system itself, or the people in the system.

Nobi and its proper translation into English have been the subject of heavy debate among historians, as non-Korean historians overwhelmingly favor translating it as "slave" and "slavery", while many Koreans argue that nobi was not a slave system, but a servant class system that does not meet the criteria for slavery."

Probably not something you want associated with your child.

    Good luck . . .

I don't think the a-sound really makes it a girls name,Dakota started out as a boys about 10 or so years ago and then came Dakota Fanning! LOL! BAM! Its a girls name!LOL! Anyway, the gender-neutral names that can equally go both was are my favourite!

Something most don't know: Paris is a boys name too :p

As for Nevada i dont like it its rather cheesy, Georgia is the only state name i like, though i secretly like Indiana as well (both for girls, even though i know Indiana is a boys name)

I arrm, really dont like the name Nevaeh, as it has no history, but each to there own

As for some unusual boy names lets see what i can get for you, these are random, so excuse the lack of order.

Thanks for the education Rachel, I had no idea. Scratch that one from the list for good. Not that we're Korean, but definitely not a nice connotation whether it was a system or a person.

I love unusual names for boys! I really love last names as first names! I do like the name Nevada but it is one of those names that I like but would not use. same w/ Neveah, Neveah and Nevada are cute together as twin names!

I like names like Sawyer, Walker, Fisher, Bowen, Lucas, - although they are not unusual anymore!

Because of the large Hispanic/Latin population in the US, these are actually very common names in the US.
