We got the Australian network and the girls watch their Humprey Bear every morning. At the end of the program they run a ticker of children's names who have emailed in. I picked out the unusual ones, IMO. Some are pretty good.

I first encountered the name "Soren" in a Star Trek TNG episode.
Maybe this girl's parents were inspired by that? ;)

Moving from USA to Australia 5 1/2 years ago(and half our kids were born in each country! LOL!) I notice the name differences alot:

Ones I noticed in OZ that arn't really popular in US are:

    Lachlan
    Rhiannon
    Zaidee
    Zara

most people in OZ never heard of Garrett either that we have !!!

I have always loved the name Lachlan!! One of my potentials for our b/b twins was Lachlan and Declan, though I think we are going a different route.

    yay for Aussie names!

Had to laugh at your list natasha - my name is Kim, I have a daughter named Adelaide, and my DH wants to call one our twins Banjo (Banjo Patterson was a famous Aussie poet)
I LOVE the name Ned (after Ned Kelly, a bushranger), and my dad keeps suggesting the name Darwin. I have also suggested Roxby or Lincoln for a boy (more Aussie place names)
Clancy's not restricted to boys though - I have known 2 female Clancys.
I think it is interesting how the names reflect Australia's multicultralism - I see names there that are Scottish, Dutch and plenty with a strong American influence.

I'm glad to see this one still going.
I love the name Adelaide. Really cute.
I found a cool new website that has all kinds of names. Here's the link to the Australian section
I love to pour over different names.

We get comments all the time on our daughter Adelaide's name - lots of people love it. Although, it has been a little confusing seeing we live 2 hours from the city of Adelaide.
For example, our SIL will say to her boys "We're going to Adelaide" and they'll get excited and reply "Will (my other daughter) be there too?"
