Unexpectedly preggo with #3 - how do you do it?

Hi there! I know you "hear it all the time" but we tried to get pregnant for 2 years, went through in-vitro (and have the sweetest little 13 month old girls!), and yep - got 2 positive HPT yesterday & today. 3 kids under 2 years? Who else has done it and survived?! I thought the last year with twins was tough, but I was just getting my life back and getting out more, and wham! Any advice???? Can you guess that I've been freaking out?

    Hi attebow:

I posted a similar message recently. My boys just turned 1 when I found out #3 was on the way. Same deal here - after two years of trying, we got pregnant with the boys on Clomid. Now apparently, #3 happened au natural! There are a few women on the board in a similar situation, so I'm sure the tips will start rolling in!

I have the same concerns as you. I am in such a good routine with the boys. I really feel like I can take them anywhere and we have it down to a science. Now a baby is going to change everything. For the best I know, but still I wonder how it's all going to come together...

    Good luck!

You can do it. You have experience with having 2 babies one should be a breeze. My oldest was 13 months too when we found out we were pregnant. Then we found out it was 2. AHHHHH! It is hard don't get me wrong but you will do just fine. Now that our twins are 13 months old I love that they are so close in age. My only advice is take it one day at a time. And get organized. Everyone told me to take help where I could get it (I didn't, and I did just fine).
If you need anyone to talk/vent to feel free to PM me

I was in the same situation, in an opposite fashion.

DH and I took the better part of a year to get pregnant with DS. No medical intervention was needed, just some time.

We decided we wanted kids 2-3 years apart, and figuring that it might be closer to 3 years, started trying when DS was 15 months old.

The girls' due date was 1 day before DS's 2nd birthday. They arrived 12 days before he turned two.

You'll manage. It'll be tough, you may not leave the house a whole lot, but it'll be fine. I think that my friends who are having a second child 3-4 years after #1 have it a bit tougher in some ways. As a 2 year old, I didn't have to leave the house for DSs sake as much as my friends with larger spacing do. He, being young, was content at home.

    Yep, that's me!
Besides I was put on the bed rest at 17 weeks and still on it. We had to hire a full time help, she's working 50 hours per week Mon-Sat.
Now I think that it's going to be much easier, after I deliver, because I could do so much on my own.
Congratulations and good luck to you! Just be very careful now - bed rest is no fun at all.

I was there when our surprise #4 came along. I found myself pregnant with 14mo twins. I have a lot of family support in the area, so the transition wasn't to bad. Whenever I had a long sleepless night I could usually call on someone to come watch everyone so I could nap. I made sure to try and get Brandon on a schedule so that his longest nap during the day was at the same time as the boys naptime. It is possible. Everything will be a-okay, so take a deep breath and Congrats.

Congratulations on getting that way naturally! That's gotta count for something, right? Now you get to see how the rest of the world gets pregnant :)

Our pedi has toddler twin girls. She just had a little boy about 8 months ago. I can tell you that everytime we see her she comments on how EASY one baby is after having twins.

Thank you so much to everyone for your advice & sweet offerings! As the day has gone on, I've become easier with the idea - it's just all the logistics that are boggling my mind (and somehow our house seems tiny all of a sudden!!). So, a great big thank you.

Defintiely sounds like you are in shock...but hopefully once that wears off you can look back on what a blessing in disguise this probably is!! I know you weren't expecting it, but that's awesome! Congrats!! Best of luck to you!

Congratulations! I know it sounds overwhelming, but you will be fine. I found out when my 3rd son was 11 weeks old that I was expecting. 7 weeks later it was confirmed that I was having twins and they were born 3 months early, leaving my babies exactly 8 months 22 days between their birthdays. It is BUSY but it is fun. And once they get through the terrible two's, I can tell this is going to be a wonderful adventure for all of us. They love each other when they're not fighting (they are all boys) and there is an incredible bond between all three of them (I've basically raised them as triplets -- even my older baby speaks twin-talk). I don't know how I do it -- I just know I have to and that it somehow gets done.

Congrats! Mine weren't that close, but just about. My oldest was a little over 2 when the twins were born. I was terrified, but it is much easier than I ever thought it would be. You will be fine! Having one after having 2 will be a breeze. Good Luck!!

CONGRATS! You can do it. You'll be amazed how easy one little baby is compared to your toddlers.
    Good luck,

I am also pregnant with number 3. We were trying, but did not expect it to happen naturally, since it took us 2 year, and an IUI. We are elated, and yes, I am freaking out!!!!!!!

A lot of the mommies here have been VERY helpful in telling me how doable it is. My boys are a little older then your girls, but they are all still toddlers and thats a hard age.

I worried a lot when I was pg with the twins...By the time they came, it felt almost easy to me, sincce A. I wanted them so badly, and B. I worried SO much that I made it seem that it would be worse in my head then it actually was.

I know Ill be fine, but it will be hard, and there will be hard days. Just try and stay calm, (much like you try and do now.) It will be fine, no worries!!!

Since I am ahead of you, maybe I can offer you tips when my bean gets here!

Thank yo so much for everyones support! Each day I am getting better with the idea! I go to the dr today (I had scheduled my annual gyn check-up and they laughed when I told them that we needed to switch it to a pre-natal checkup!). It will be crazy, but fun! And I'm so glad I have all of you for support! Thank you, thank you!!!

    yippie another baby..

there are so many ways to do it.. all three of mine are 11 months apart..

diaper bag stays in the car.. use a stroller to get from car to house to store..

you spend alot of time in places like walmart/target.. but atleast you get out..

    enjoy your new little one..

alot of my hints are.. place socks in a cubby with shoes so getting out of the house is easy..

use two diaper stackers.. one for diapers and wipes..

the other for birpclothes and towels..

with two running around.. youll be able to say get me.. a diaper and they will bring it to you..

the biggest thing i told my oldest son IS MUST HOLD HANDS..

he stays right withme.. and it helps..

but now he says he wants to hold his own hand.. lol...

    That's too cute

I'm also pregnant with #3, the twins will be 20 months when Mason comes along.

I'm really not that nervous about it any more. I'm making a maya wrap for myself because I know my little guy will be in there a lot.

I LOVE the idea of having 3 boys so close in age, I know it will be hard at first but it's going to be so worth it!

It is awesome having 3 little boys so close in age. Mine are so active, they are into EVERYTHING. And they are totally boy -- trucks, dirt, and body functions are what keep them entertained.

Congrats on your TTTS survivors. Mine are survivors, too, diagnosed at 19 weeks and PROM at 20 weeks. What a nightmare that was!
