Am I supposed to move out the little head protector thing in my snugride once the baby reaches a certain weight/size?

Do I use strollers that don't use infant carriers (i.e. regular strollers/etc) only once the kids are out of their infant carrier or can sit up okay or ?

    Thanks. I know... dumb questions.

i took the u-shape head rest out of their infant carrier about 2 months ago. My boys are not really that small though so maybe thats why i was able to do that.

Even though they are still in their infant carrier, i took them for walks when they were 4 months in a baby jogger. it had a 5 point harness and that allowed them to sit perfectly in there. Also, I put it so it had a bit of a recline

I took out the head supports when their heads and shoulders were getting too big for them, which was around 2 months maybe?

We still use the infant seats in the stroller. I think I'll continue doing this until they outgrow the infant seats, then I'll just sit them in the stroller. One day DS was hating his carseat so I just sat him in the stroller and he was fine (i put a blanket around his waist so he wouldn't fall over) so I know i could put them in the stroller on their own now, but I just find it so easy to snap the seats right into the stroller.

BTW - there are no dumb questions! If it's something you don't know and need to know, then it's a good question.

I don't remember when I took them out but it was when they got too big for them. It was probably around 3-4 months though.

My friend never used the infant carriers with her twins. In the beginning she put both of them in the back seat and her 3 year old in the front seat. Then by a month she put one in the front and one in the back and would just recline the seat a bit so they didn't topple forward or to the side.

I used to put my nephew in an umbrella stroller when he was an infant before I got my duoglider. He was about 7 weeks old. I didn't have any other stroller at the time when I kept him overnight and I needed to go to the mall with a friend.

Now that I think about it, I don't think we used those head roll things. Zoe's head kept flopping forward too much, so we had to take it out & just use rolled blankets. I don't know if there's a specific weight/height for stopping them, but I bet you could call the company or your fire dept & ask them. (I have snugrides, too & the # is right on the side of the carseat)

I just this month got smaller umbrella strollers. Until then, we just used the duoglider everywhere. Sometimes with the carseats, sometimes without. I was surprised to find that the small umbrella stroller actually gives them a little more support if they can't sit on their own, since the sides kind of wrap around a little bit. I don't think you have to wait till they've outgrown the carriers....that would be a long way off since it's like 22 lbs.

We stopped using the head supports at around 4 months. And we put the kids in the stoller, without the carseats, from the very beginning (maybe a month or two old). The seats reclined and the stroller had a 5-point harness to keep them all buckled in and safe.

Mine are almost 7 months and we still have the head supports in. They are able to sit up on their own, so they don't really need it for support or anything, but I think it helps to keep their heads from flopping too far to the side when they fall asleep in the car.

As far as the stroller, we started using umbrella strollers at just after 5 months. The ones we have "recline" a bit and have a 5 pt harness so I thin it made it a little easier to get them secured in there.
