i had my shower and my mom wants to take me to babies r us this weekend to get some undershirts and socks. she said that i need them and i didn't get any.
LOL - how many of these do i need? i was also told to return a lot of my 0-3 month outfits.

any suggestions as to what i really need and what i should return?

OH and when i was looking at the beginners list it said shirts until the umbilical cord falls off. what do they wear? can they not wear onesies?

My two wore 0-3 months for a loooooong time, but once they were past that stage, they flew. . .they didn't even really get to wear 9 month stuff, but for maybe a week.

Definitely get socks. Those little buggers get lost all the time. The cord falls off within 2 weeks normally, my two wore pajamas that whole time.

This sticky at the top of the Expecting Forum has a great list of what to get, and how much. I used it when I bought all the stuff I needed and found it to be very helpful.

when they first come home, what do they wear? do they wear their onesies/pants or no. sorry....lol.

do they only wear a t-shirt until their umbilical cord falls off?

Mine wore onesies right when they came home & it was just fine against the umbilical cord until it fell off. The onesies were loose on them :good:
They only wore preemie clothes at first (they were 6lbs & 4lbs10oz) & thankfully I had a ton of preemie stuff!

Almost every day they would wear a onesie & cotton snap up PJ's from Target over that (Circo brand). Their feet were almost always covered with the PJ's but if the PJ's didn't have feet then they would wear socks. The socks ended up falling off all the time though.

Same here, my two wore onsies from the day they came home and we had no issues with the umbilical cord. As far as socks go, I didn't get many. They were mostly in footed PJ's and it was summer time. I did have a few pairs for their outfits but found they were hard to keep on their little feet.

I'm not sure how many lbs., I think 5 or 6? I would get a few jammies and outfits but not alot. I got way too many because I thought I'd need them and then my son was 8lbs and didn't wear them at all, but my dd did wear them for a couple of weeks, but I definately could have got less. They really don't care what they are wearing, as long as you have food for them.

I had mine in gowns & Socks for the first few weeks. It made things so much easier. I would put an o utfit on them when we went out adn about but otherwise, sleeping sacs/gowns all the time when at home.

Al the cutesie outfits are fun but there really is not need for most of them. at the newborn age outfits and jammies are mostly the same thing.

ETA:Hey, Ijut realized mine are wearing diapers and t-shirts in my avi. THat was a pic from the hospital and the hospital gave us a bunch of undershirts for them, and a couple hats each too. Mine wore hats (2 at a time soemtimes) for a while since they were so small. They really help them stay warm. I think the ones in the pics are ones I knitted adn they were so big on them I had to roll them up

I woudlnt' go crazy with socks. My girls never wore them, they woudl just kick them off anyways. I just used footed sleepers during the day or onesies--not even pants!! I had no problem with onesies and the umbilical cord adn my girls didnt' fall off until 3 weeks.

I just dressed them what looked to be comfortable. No fuss, no muss. I was tired and they were tired! I basically didn't wear ANY of the cutsie 0-3 month ouftits but I used a lot of sleepers, onesies and burp cloths!

You will need some socks if their outfits aren't footed. If you have a/c on, they could get cold. However, my daughter was 6lbs 1 oz and her feet were too small in the beginning for regular socks so we kept her in footie sleepers. I haven't tried socks yet but I think her feet are bigger now (6lbs 15 oz).

We had 1 preemie outfit that was for up to 5 pounds which we got as a gift. She wore it a few times but for the most part she has worn NB size. They were a bit big at first but it was okay. She was 6 lbs at birth so if you're babies are smaller, you may need them. Our hospital had a BRU right across the street so I was planning on sending someone if we needed more.

Right now, except when it's over 90, she's been in a tshirt and a sleeper. The hot days, just a sleeper. They recommend a tshirt v. a onesie until the cord falls off. I plan on using a onsie today after her bath since the cord fell off the other day.

This is so funny! I just had lunch with my Gram yesterday and told her how I was just about all set with baby stuff, all I needed to get was undershirts and socks.
