    Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum but have been checking it out for a while now. I am 27 weeks pregnant with identical twin girls. It has been fairly uneventful. I was wondering if anyone has expereinced uncontrollable shaking. Last night was the second non-consecutive night that I awoke out of sleep freezing cold and unable to control my body from shaking. It was so violent that I thought I was going to vomit. I hate calling my OBGYN because they always send me to the ER. Any one experienced this?? Thanks.

Could your blood sugar be low? I am not trying to scare you or anything (because I am probably way off base), but my dad is diabetic and sometimes get the shakes when his sugar is out whack. Have you had the gestational diabetes test yet? I think they usually give it around 26-28 weeks if I remember correctly. I would put a call into your OB today and talk to someone. It probably is nothing, but that is what they are there for. Good luck.

With my first pregnancy I had uncontrollable shakes after I was given my epidural and throughout the entire c-section and for about an hour afterwards. But I've never heard of getting them before labor. Check with your dr. I was told you get them in labor from your body going into shock. and afterwards cause once the baby is removed from your body, it can be pretty shocking to your system. hmm...not sure if that helps you out. sorry.

Welcome to TS and congrats on your pregnancy :)

I would call your doc. I agree that maybe it is your blood sugars, but maybe it is something else, but does sound like it is important enough to call. Good luck :)

Maybe you are getting sick. I would make sure you don't have a fever. I get this sometimes when I haven't been able to go to the bathroom for a while (sorry if tmi). I have IBS and that happens to me. It also sometimes happens with my migraines. I also agree with the sugar, it could be so many things. I would definitely have it checked out, this doesn't sound like something that you should let go.

It sounds to me like low blood sugar -- have you had your gestational diabetes screening yet?

Doesn't sound like GD to me because you wouldn't get low blood sugars unless you were on insulin or some other kind of Diabetic drug. I would definately mention it to your Dr though.

Welcome to Twinstuff! Congrats on your twins. I would check with your OB about it.

I would definitely call. Going to the ER is a pain, but better to be safe than sorry. Feel better, Lisa

Hello. I have identical girls too and I have not had this happen to me. I hope it doesn't happen- that's
kind of bizzare? Sorry your going through that. I've had many scares and still am being watched carefully for
my cervix and TTTS. Our bodies are going through so much ya know. Maybe it's the way you are sleeping?
I get numb in my hands a lot and many times have woken up with a bad bloody nose. Have you seen a specialist?
I feel the OB doesn't have enough info when I go. They rely on my specialist report. And then we go over that.
All my ultrasounds are through the peri. (specialist). Good-luck and hang in there. I worry too... we are
at higher risk because they are in the same sak.

Are you okay? Did you get in touch with the Dr?
I have actually had this twice following a low blood pressure episode. It really freaked me out. I suppose anything that gets you sweating, like low blood sugar, blood pressure, fever, etc could have this effect. Definitely worth calling about. Were you sweating?

I did end up calling my OBGYN, thank you for everyone who posted their thoughts. My doc did not seem concerned, she thought maybe it was a shift in hormones or I was running a temp. I go for my GD test on monday, which will hopefully be negative. It was just so scary, I think I will mention it to my peri next week when I see him. My OBGYN's don't seem very confident in treating me with this pregnancy. They are honest though, and say it is not their speciality. Thanks again!!
